This isn't atom by atom 3D printing, yet, and it isn't micro robotics, yet. It is technology designed by AI and then manufactured by AI. Built from AI generated code. So, you might quickly get new novel technologies, that work, but no one knows why they work. More loss of control.

I read ' The Execution Channel ' by MacLeod when it came out around 2008. In the dystopian post 9/11 world of continuous war and terror there's this mysterious livestream broadcast that airs real-time executions globally. Has nothing to do with the plot but it sets the tone.
