For #WIPWednesday, here's a snip from the @ofmdbigbang.bsky.social fic I'm cooking up with @bakerbelle.bsky.social Stede's love language is pretty much "cake" in this.

“Point taken,” he said. “Anyway, let me drive you home. It’s late and you’ve been through a lot. I don’t want you to collapse in the street, you still seem a bit shaky.”

“That’s just because I haven’t had dinner,” Ed said dismissively.

“Oh god, Ed, what was I thinking? You must be starving! I’ll get you something!” Stede shouted, already half on his way to the kitchen to make Ed a sandwich, cursing himself for being so negligent of Ed’s needs.

“I’ll take this if it’s okay,” Ed said, pointing at the piece of chocolate tart Stede had abandoned on the table earlier, with an expression on his face that would have put a shelter puppy trying to get adopted to shame.

“Oh, of course,” Stede replied. “I was actually saving that for you …”

It's beautiful! I'm so proud of everyone! I have two frames in there. Frame 76 is a digital drawing of them in their moonlight scene outfits from Season 1. Frame 125 is pixel art made in Minecraft. Slightly over 64,000 blocks individually placed. It was a nightmare. Never again. 😂

Digital painting of Ed and Stede wearing their outfits from the moonlight scene at the end of Season 1, Episode 5. Stede clutches Ed by his purple vest with both hands. Ed gently holds Stede's shoulder as they stare into each other's eyes. There is a glowing full moon and starry sky in the background.

Dark silhouette of Ed in front of the windows in the bed nook of Stede's cabin. Pixel art created in Minecraft.

My car decided to not start this morning, so I am stuck at home for the day. Luckily, I had taken the day off work already. Unluckily, it's my birthday and I was trying to go see my dad in the nursing home. Instead, I am rewatching OFMD and baking a funfetti cake for myself.

I want a physical copy of Our Flag Means Death so bad. With bloopers and bts and interviews and concept art galleries. And a fold out case. And an extra disc with the soundtrack and score. I want a menu screen with A Pirate's Life playing on repeat. 😤

Late entry for #WIPWednesday. After the Fall, my entry for #OFMDBB25, arrives on November 24th. Featuring art by @bakerbelle.bsky.social and @rocketlollyart.bsky.social. 🐋💙

There are little murmurs from the other guests as Ed and Stede walk around and interact with the displays, immersing themselves in underwater worlds. Near a back corner, two humpback whales, a mother with her calf, swim closely beneath the water’s surface. The calf stays hovering above the mother as she guides the way, sunlight from above glimmering on their skin. All of a sudden, rumbling coos fill the space, playing along with the calming ocean music.

“Incredible, aren’t they?” Stede murmurs beside Ed. “My only regret is that I’ll never get to hear a whale song.”

Ed’s eyes remain glued to the screen, and he holds himself tighter. “You’ve never heard it on a cruise before?”

“No, sadly. It’s nearly impossible to hear them. It’s amazing, actually. Whale songs can be transmitted four times faster than in the air, but the water’s barrier prevents them from being heard above the surface.” Stede sighs deeply to himself, filled with tender melancholy. “I guess it’s better that way. Some things are too beautiful to be meant for us.”

Ed swallows deeply as he considers this, but while he’s distracted, he fails to notice the calf swimming off by itself. The projection focuses on the calf, and suddenly, the whale song seems much louder and sharper, almost like the baby whale is crying… lost and alone… searching for its mother in the great, deep blue.

I remember reading this fic two years ago. I was on vacation, reading it on the porch in a cabin in the mountains. It's now two years later. I am on vacation again. At the exact same cabin in the mountains. Anyway, it's a great fic. You should definitely give it a read or listen (or both)!

First time doing a #WIPWednesday. I've been slowly working on this for over two months now and hoping it will see the light of day soon! I'm sending the crew into Yellowstone in 1870 (before it was a National Park). What could possibly go wrong?

The next to arrive was Stede's assistant, Lucius. He huffed, put a hand on his hip, and tilted his head to the side. "So, I guess we're really doing this, then?" he asked.

"Yes, of course we are! I think it will be fun, don't you?"

Lucius rolled his eyes. "A month in the woods. Fun? In what world do you think—"

"Oh, good! Everyone's here already," said Cornelius Hornberry. "You see, Wellington? I said they would be."

The shorter of the two men, Henry Wellington, shifted his pack over his shoulder and stared at the others in an unfriendly manner while his companion beamed and waved.

"It's so exciting, isn't it?" Hornberry asked.

"Yes, I was just saying that!" said Stede.

The podfic of Ten Hearts by @bakerbelle.bsky.social written for #ofmdAUgust day 16 "Rivals" prompt. Ed and Stede enjoy playing co-op Stardew Valley in their spare time. Ed gets jealous of the NPCs, seeing them as rivals for Stede’s affection. Meanwhile, Stede has been working hard on a gift for Ed.

A square podfic title card based on the Stardew Valley titles. There is a digital picture of green mountains under a blue starry sky and clouds, and text that looks like it's made of wood. The text reads Ten Hearts by Bakerbelle, podfic by happydaiz
