Right. I actually think that RBG wasn't making an ABSURD decision-- the Senate changed hands, she needed to survive six more years, and she missed it by three months. McConnell broke a century long filibuster rule to replace her. Hubristic but not idiotic. But at this point it's "fool me twice."

Theoretically sure, but effectively no. The fifth amendment doesn't require you to have a rational basis for believing your testimony will incriminate you, so you can use it to refuse to answer ANY question, even if there's no conceivable reason your answer could put you in legal jeopardy.
