I’m not sure how I feel about the “more-than-human” phrase that I see in the environmental humanities. While I understand its intended meaning, to me it still conceptualizes the relationship between humans and nonhumans with human exceptionalism as the reference point. (1/2)

I actually love tragedies—but tragedy for the sake of tragedy is boring and redundant imo. That said, I could be wrong, but the creative team at Fortiche strikes me as incredibly thoughtful storytellers. Their approach doesn’t seem trite, even if they fumble here and there.

The final arc of #Arcane uses motion and inertia as a metaphor for life and potential, while stillness symbolizes death. Upon rewatching the final arc, the metaphor is everywhere.    I’ll have to do a rewatch looking for this thread in the show, but Jinx’s airship is a great throughline: (1/)

Change is possible: Seattle's Westlake Ave Trail before/after The super useful Westlake Trail was carved out of a publicly owned parking lot. It was absurdly controversial at the time, with the loudest opponents being a “super yacht” marina. Now it’s loved and no one wants to go back.
