Oh I had that and it took FOREVER to go away (not what you want to hear) - the forearm brace works a bit but it’s really just time and avoiding movements that hurt (and - for me - fixing keyboard and mouse positioning)

Had a chance to talk with some job seekers recently and one thing I always try to mention is that many job descriptions are what a top-performer would be doing maybe 2 years in - don’t worry you don’t have “that” skill yet - you’ll learn it Just be eager to learn #ChemJobs #ChemSky

my department chair told me in my annual review that she received feedback from others that my building maintenance emails were "informative and entertaining." which has just encouraged me further. (presentation for the first year grad students in a few weeks)
Disposing of other stuff (not bodies)

Wood: Wood crate materials or pallets will be picked up automatically from the east Gilman dock. For Hach, place a service request and Campus Services will pick it up when they pick up other trash. https://www.fpm.iastate.edu/forms/servicerequest/maintenance.asp
Other metal: Pipes? Solvent shipping cans? There are metal recycling drums on the Gilman east loading dock.
Batteries: There is a battery disposal bucket in Chem Stores.
Computers, monitors, printers: email chem-tech@iastate.edu
Lab equipment: working and non-working lab equipment must be submitted to ISU Surplus for removal. EH&S will come inspect the equipment before clearing it for disposal or sale at the ISU Surplus sale.
https://surplus.iastate.edu/excess-property
Surplus will coordinate with you to pick up equipment from your lab after EH&S has inspected it and tagged it.
Non-working equipment, like a broken fridge, may be marked for disposal. If that is the case, your research group will have to get the equipment to the Hach loading bay or Gilman loading dock for removal, or there is a small fee for moving it from your lab. You can reach out to Sarah if you need assistance with this process as it is kind of convoluted.
Did you know: ISU Surplus has a sale open to the public most Wednesdays. You can find great deals on used computers, furniture, kitchen equipment, printers, monitors, and truly random stuff. You can see what treasures are new that week on their website https://surplus.iastate.edu/inventory
disposing of other stuff (bodies) with a screenshot of a youtube video that says "can you really dissolve a human body in acid like in breaking bad?" and then slide text that reads "haha just kidding, Happy Halloween"

As a pharma chemist I lean way more towards the origin of homochirality In our normal work, enantioselective reactions are driven by more standard specifically designed ligands (Salen, pybox, BINAP etc) or biocatalysis This Nobel winning work is part of the foundation of all of that
