Excited to spend a few days hanging out with some fantastic @khourycollege.bsky.social Align students as part of our Boston residency. But definitely need the jet fuel today.

In the fast-paced, information-dense world of professional journalism, AI is quickly becoming a valuable tool. But a closer look shows that chatbots aren't always as neutral as they purport to be. Read more: bit.ly/4fQGZNR

Got the bookends! Thrilled that I got to celebrate the 100+ @khourycollege.bsky.social graduates at the Roux Institute graduation yesterday afternoon. I can’t wait to hear what impacts they will have on Maine and the world! (Photo bomb courtesy of CoS Director Prof. Okonkwo)

My first real trip back from surgery and I’m so thankful that I got to celebrate these fantastic students - our first @khourycollege.bsky.social grads in Miami. We’ll miss their care, resilience, and leadership, but look forward to what they’ll do next!

Incoming sappy post. As we get into the flow of 2026, it has me thinking about the Challenges(tm) how they will evolve this year, and my own role working on these in some local sense. My priority will always remain the same - opening pathways, enabling change, and supporting people and communities.

Xbox made the certification documents public (this is it takes to ship/pass the checklist/QA to launch a game on Xbox) for everyone; and Nintendo/PS should consider the same. There are a lot of things that if were common knowledge would save hours/money to everyone. developer.microsoft.... #gamedev

Delighted that I got a chance to talk computational thinking as well as AI impacts in education with the Maine K12 community at #CSSummerofFun2025 this week. Thanks to MMSA and Educate Maine for a fantastic event and @hussonu.bsky.social for a wonderful venue!

I'm so heartbroken. Andrea Gibson's poetry was such a light for so many, including me. Thank you for your spirit.💔
Instead of Depression

try calling it hibernation.
Imagine the darkness is a cave
in which you will be nurtured
by doing absolutely nothing.
Hibernating animals don't even dream.
It's okay if you can't imagine
spring. Sleep through the alarm
of the world. Name your hopelessness
a quiet hollow, a place you go
to heal, a den you dug,
Sweetheart, instead
of a grave.

It was a little disappointing (but understandable) that we could not get together in-person, but I still got a ton out of the virtual summit this week. If you get a chance to watch the videos, you should!

Grades are in and another academic year is in the books. That means it’s summer, so a beach visit was had!

I’m proud of two things this year at #SIGCSE25 - first, a best paper award for my paper with Khoury College colleagues on outcomes from our bridge program. Second, and most importantly, the ACM BPC award for my colleague Jonathan Mwaura and his internationally focused inclusion work.
