#philosophy #QI #evolution If a tree falls and nothing hears it, does it make a sound? Another easy one. The answer is no, it makes vibrations. "Sound" exists only in the heads of those creatures with an ear-brain system, which has evolved to represent vibrations in a more useful way.

#philosophy #QI #evolution Which came first, the chicken or the egg? This is an easy one. The answer is the egg. In evolutionary terms, the first thing we would define as a chicken hatched out of an egg laid by something we would define as "not quite a chicken".

I seem to have upset the Nigel Farage fan club - so let me be clear. This man sows hate, lies and division. He is a grifter and a conman. He does not represent the vast majority of Britons. Repost if you agree P.s. multiculturalism is great.

Voyager 1 left earth in 1977. Travelling at around 38000mph it's now over 15 billion miles from The Sun. It'll take around 30k years for it to pass through the Oort Cloud and truly leave the Solar System and 40k years before it is closer to another star than to The Sun. #voyager #astronomy #universe

I think most amateur astronomers struggle to see beyond two dimensions when they view the night sky. Astrophotographers can do it though. There is no doubt about the three dimensions in this shot from the Webb telescope. #astronomy #photography #astrophotography #WebbTelescope

We humbly interrupt your scroll to bring you the news that Wisdom—the world's oldest known wild bird—is breeding again, age 74. Go on girl. 😍

A screenshot of a social media post from USFWSPacific that reads:

"SHE DID IT AGAIN!

Wisdom, the world’s oldest known wild bird, is back with a new partner and just laid yet another egg.

At an approximate age of 74, the queen of seabirds returned to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge last week and began interacting with a male."

This tweet is paired with an image of two Laysan Albatrosses at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. Wisdom, the oldest known wild bird, is shown alongside her new partner, demonstrating her enduring legacy as a remarkable seabird.

Adult cats don't tend to meow at each other, reserving the meow for interaction with their human owners. Ergo, if your cat meows in its sleep, it's dreaming about you... #cats
