Kane Parsons' BACKROOMS is the most deliciously unsettling film I've seen in a theater since WEAPONS. It's creepy as hell, accessible to people who've never heard of 4chan, creepypasta, or Parsons' viral YouTube videos, and full of images that are going to haunt me for a long time. Strong recommend.

Chiwetel Ejiofor stands in a wide, blank room with yellow walls in Kane Parsons' 2026 movie BACKROOMS, touching a wall and looking unnerved.

While BACKROOMS ultimately works better as a series, Kane Parsons delivers a promising debut feature, firmly establishing himself as one to watch. I'm a sucker for liminal horror, and when BACKROOMS works, it's a waking nightmare. Easily the best creepypasta adaptation yet.

Mary running around in the backrooms where it looks like a neighborhood.
