Donkey Kong 64 contains unused text that would have referenced the Gold Skulltula sidequest from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a joke explanation for Donkey Kong not being able to do something.

(mockup screenshot using text extracted from files)
HEY, DONKEY, YOU'LL NEED 100 SKULLTILLEYS IF YOU WANT TO RACE ME!
Donkey Kong 64 contains an unused line of text for the seal in Gloomy Galleon where he tells Donkey Kong that he needs "100 Skulltilleys" to race him. This was intended to be used in the game's demo as a joke explanation for why the race cannot be accessed.
This is of course a reference to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where Gold Skulltulas can be found all over Hyrule. Defeating them produces tokens, 100 of which are needed to lift the curse on a family in Kakariko Village which turned them into spiders.
The spelling "Skulltilleys" instead of "Skulltulas" appears to be an inside reference to the name of Rareware artist Carl Tilley, who worked on this game.

A sprite edit of Sigma's face from Mega Man X2 added to a king in golden armor holding up a massive polearm. The Sigma symbol has been edited onto the cloth on his chest.

There is artwork of this guy in the manual and he looks like the coolest thing ever. Then when you get to the guy he's even more terrifying because he can teleport around the room and his axe makes wide arcs that fly forward

A sprite edit of Wolf Sigma's body with Gaia's head, an old woman with long tendrils instead of hair. Wolf Sigma's hands are holding up platforms holding an armored warrior with a sword on the left, a fiery warrior on the right.

Imagine if Sigma just threw his subordinates at you during the fight, he'd be even more difficult.

A sprite edit of Dr Wily's head added inside a bipedal robot armor with large wings and a cannon arm.

I reiterate constantly that Wily would be cool inside mech suits like these. I was probably heavily influenced by his appearance in Mega Man Soccer.
