Becky @b3ckyd8vis.bsky.social · 18/01/2025People in positions of power, with significant resources, almost always choose the easiest and most self-centered path. Even if that comes at the expense of others, especially those from a different socioeconomic or racial/ethnic background. Is it because they lack empathy? Who are some exceptions? 000
Becky @b3ckyd8vis.bsky.social · 16/01/2025I know the standard for gaining followers on social media is typically "post regularly and frequently" ... but maybe at some point, other factors should come into play. 000

But the fire in Altadena--a racially and economically diverse suburb--deserves more attention, because insurance may not cover their rebuilding costs, forcing families out and leading the neighborhood to gentrify. www.reuters.com/world/us/far...reuters.comFar from Hollywood's wealth, Los Angeles fire survivors feel forgottenResidents say that insurance companies might shortchange less affluent households. 4730091454

The practice controlled the forest density, scaled down undergrowth, and promoted fire-resistant species. It reduced the severity, mileage, and overall number of forest fires. 1/5 943435830
Reposted by BeckyEric Holthaus @ericholthaus.com · 08/01/2025A reminder that Los Angeles had its hottest summer in history last year. Southern California has received just 2% of "normal" rainfall during the current "rainy" season. These fires are a direct result of a warming & drying atmosphere caused by burning fossil fuels. We are in a climate emergency. 17653251920

Almost no one gets to check all the boxes. So maybe don’t be an asshole. 154107241626
