Barely a movie but it kept the action moving and honestly one point just for Karl Urban trying his best. 3/5 stars.

Less of a movie and more of a series of “Hey it would be cool in this scene if…” Still entertaining nonetheless and has a few good surprises and decent action set pieces. 3/5 stars.

In a year of average movies one strives to be the most average. Paint by numbers but everyone was at least having fun. Combine that with a better movie than “Operation Fortune” and you have a fun Guy Ritchie outing. 3/5 stars.

Halfway between committing to the absurd material and trying to modernize it is a fun yet slightly boring trip to Eternia. A few stand out moments make it worth seeing, but not by much except for die hards for this franchise. 3/5 stars.

I’m always a fan when my top ten is fluid and changes through the year. The top 5 so far have been real surprises for the most past and can’t wait for the back half of the year.

Great camera work and slick fight scenes and enough gore to fill 3 “Ready or Not” sequels. Only held back by some minor pacing issues this one really kept me engaged the whole time. 4/5 stars

Doing my first of two double features next weekend. Hazard of living 90 minutes from a decent theater.

a couple of decent movies got pushed out last minute but I’m pretty happy with my top ten for 2025. Next month I’m going to do my best picture winners for the last decade as a write up.

“Eternity” didn’t crack the top ten but it’s still a movie worth watching. Slow paced and well performed with a lot of good poignant thoughts about the nature of love and eternity. 4/5 stars.

Brie worked really hard to bring the Xmas vibes to the house

“Wake up dead man” was the type of movie I needed this year. A director I’m obsessed with putting out another banger. Edgar Wright didn’t stick the landing this year with “The running man” so I’m glad another old faithful made it work.

Congrats to “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” for winning most of the game awards last night! It was well deserved and I’m especially excited about the next year of online discourse talking about how it wasn’t actually that good of a game since it won so many awards. 🤪

Caught Stealing sneaks its way into the top ten! Not perfect but the vibes alone were worth the price of admission.

You know who would have a merry Christmas? Writers and actors who get paid to create.

Update on my 2025 movie list so far! We’re down to the wire with just a few more movies to catch up on! Been a solid year for movies but it’s a real bummer an Edgar Wright movie didn’t come close to the top ten

“Sorry Baby” was really great! It wasn’t quite the emotional powerhouse I was thinking it was going to be, but there’s a lot of heart in it with just enough humor to keep you off balance.

I go back and forth on Ari Aster movies but this one was really solid. Back half really kept me engaged and he always directs characters spiraling really well. 4/5 stars.

It’s a talented cast in a movie with wildly mismatched pacing and tonal issues. The rhythm is all wrong despite some good scenes. 3/5 stars.

Tomorrow I’m taking my day off the see 3 (of the four so far) Pedro Pascal movies for this year. Will any crack the top ten? Only time will tell!

What an absolute blast “Escape from the 21st Century” was. Equal parts madness and heart thrilling moments. 5/5 stars.

I connected with “The Phoenician Scheme” way more than I did “Asteroid City”. I found it charming and snappy and much better focused. Charming as always Wes Anderson.

It doesn’t reinvent the superhero genre, but Superman now more than any other recent time he’s appeared reminds us of what power there is in that genre. 4/5 stars.

28 years later has some genuinely fun zombie gore and a heart at the center of the story that really carried it for me. That said the tone was uneven and the ending didn’t do much besides make me shrug. If they had ended it 5 minutes earlier I feel like they would have stuck the landing. 3/5 stars.

Catching up on 2025 movies! “Friendship was a solid and awkward comedy I’ll probably watch 1000 times. “Ballerina” was a solid outing in the John Wick universe and “Fight or Flight” was fun and gory. Really only expecting the top 4 movies to survive but we’ll have to see.

000

Tim under the blue sky @azurearrow.bsky.social · 12/06/2025

I wanted “My Dead Friend Zoe” to land better. Great cast and I love a Natalie Morales project. The tone is a little all over the place and the landing sticks emotionally but it wasn’t as solid as it could have been.

Presence jumps up the list! The better of my two for my double feature tonight. Really surprising and emotional with the right number of jump scares sprinkled in.

Missed this in theaters but not upset about it. Poorly paced compared to a leaner movie like Black Bag. It sits in the top ten currently simply as a numbers game.

Tim under the blue sky @azurearrow.bsky.social · 24/05/2025

Mission Impossible takes the middle of the list for its 3 star rating.

I now have ten official 2025 movies on the list which means it’s time to start making cuts this month! Low odds for any survivors under Mickey 17

I can’t believe I slept so long on this. One of the best films of last year. I missed it in theaters and it took forever to hit streaming. What a masterpiece.

Prologue: hey this game is pretty rad First section: wow I’m getting my ass kicked this combat is hard First boss fight as I get the rhythm down: I AM A LIVING GOD

Driving 90 minutes tomorrow to watch two movies since that’s the main disadvantage of living in the middle of nowhere.

Movie day! What a great and lean thriller. Punchy dialogue from start to finish with just a pinch of dry humor baked in. 4/5 stars.
