"We can save everyone within us!" - collab between me and @jujudisegnacose.bsky.social 🎣💕 #ironlung #simon #theconvict #bloodeel

Illustration for the movie Iron Lung.
Simon is holding his necklace, looking terrified, standing in a sea of blood. Behind him a giant blood heel opens its mouth.
In the front of the illustration there's written "We are salvation" on the blood.

ch. 3 of Half Human is up on patreon & ko-fi! This is THE chapter I wanted most to write for this fic when I first thought of the AU. it's pretty early on, so I'll probably get just as excited to write a later chapter once more details are hashed out, but, you know. this one's the juiciest so far

The world was hazy and slow. He couldn't open his eyes.

He was lying at the bottom of a swimming pool full of syrup. He couldn't open his eyes, and his ears were plugged with cotton, voices fading in and out, indecipherably echoing in his skull. He was floating, only barely registering muffled touches from all around.

He couldn't open his eyes.

There was ice in his veins and he sunk deep, deep down into the embrace of unconsciousness.

. . .

nightposting but the first chapter of HALF HUMAN has been published on ao3! archiveofourown.org/works/920622... and members can read the 2nd chapter early tomorrow :o) sadly, Grace doesn't get monsterified until chapter 3 but the small buildup should be worth it #halfhuman

HALF HUMAN fanfic by Dracononite

In 2225, Earth scientists intercept an asteroid projected to have originated near the 40 Eridani A solar system, discovering an alien virus which drastically transforms human biology upon contact. Realization, an extremist underground science research group, gets their hands on the virus to use on one unfortunate Dr. Ryland Grace.

Many years earlier, a mysterious iron-rich ocean with microscopic alien life was discovered on Mars' new third moon, AT-5. Simon, a former Eden engineer, is one of a group deemed responsible by the Consolidation of Iron for the destruction of Filament Station. Shipped back to Earth as a convict, he's set to endure the torturous effects of this "blood ocean's" parasite in Realization as penance for his crimes.

OR

A different take on Eridian Grace and mutated Simon, with a lot of fun speculative biology.

Notes: This AU has been in the works for weeks and is all I can think about. Enough so that I've taken up my first writing project in a decade. This is my first time posting anything on Ao3, so any suggestions for tags would be appreciated (I'll add more as I think of them and as the story progresses!) Also, I'm not a fast writer, but I'm a passionate one. Comments and questions fuel me.

More food!! ✨ But also good luck ahah

Please do!! We'd love to see how he adapts to all the changes and what he can do with all of that 👀

Still in love with this design , oh wow!!

Grace found a new drug with apparently no side-effects 🤣 (assuming) Glad he haven't found Ilyukhina's end of life method on the ship because he seems to like floating a LOT lmao

Here you go! Can't give much but you 100% deserve more people supporting you 💪

Fun how we got Rocky/Grace a few months later....

Idk if it'll help but I'm a trans man with a beard, big muscles, strong masculine energy yet I have fancy colorful nails and hair! You are allowed to have fun, being sad and bland is not masculine, it's just sad and bland 🫂 If "femme" outfits makes you happy, keep going 💪

Told youuuu!! So many more people there than on bluesky! People tend to post sfw stuff on Tumblr then redirect here for the +18 ones 🤣 Totally stalking the account now 👀

Just followed you there! (Celest-angel) So happy to see you're getting a lot of attention on tumblr :D Your work totally deserve it!!

It does look like he's used to it now! I bet it was difficult at first with you alien everything looked, poor Simon ahah "The fuck is this for"

How did they manage to make him understand what they want exactly? 🤔

Indeed! There is definitely something to explore around here 🤔 I'll keep your art around to try to improve because your results are really cool and great motivation to work on my own style!

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Thanks!! It was a commission and I'm sooo proud of it! I tend to use the harder pencils, the more waxy ones are indeed annoying 😂 if it doesn't make noise on the paper, it feels wrong lol

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Just for the example, these are my colored pencils skills xD So weird that I can't do something clean with just the normal pencil lmao It tends to saturate the paper so much faster!

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Exactly this!! It's a full "'you'll get experience with lot and lot of mistakes first" kind of learning ahah I'm great with colors pencils for this but for some reason, can't do the pencil only yet. Time to practice, then 💪

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Oooh I'll try to learn how to do that 👀 Because despite my efforts, I always ended up needing to line my work with a black marker and it's ruining the wanted "sketch" effect 😂

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Yes that's so cool and must make you feel proud! That's one of the best compliment out there imo 👀

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

That's INCREDIBLY COOL!!! ✨

Azhegal _ Jun @azhegal.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

First time seeing mostly "wow your [specific art skill] is awesome" comments instead of all the horny ones 🤣 This said: How do you sketch so well?? When I try that, I end up with a mess of construction lines over barely visible neat lines 😭

Two theories on my side: You wrote "Rocky" and "Grace" in some of your posts so it might have shown while searching for fanarts here. OR it's from Sharkfiinn's fanart (or anyone sharing your work) lmao I liked "intermission" first so that gives me no more hints on how I found you at all 🤣

Take all the time you need, never feel pressured for doing free work 💪 It must stay fun for you!

Always happy to see your updates 👀

Simon will end up being friend with Adrian before Adrian even try, isn't he?? 🤣🤣

From their point of view, they can't even know if Simon is able to understand that damaging the dome or Adrian's suit is a death sentence! Adrian took a big risk but I also think that Adrian is somehow the best at body language and patience 👀

Glad to be helpful 😊 Have fun!
