Found an old homework page: transliterating the colophon of the 1721 print of the Golden Beam Sutra (Mongolian Altan gerel) in Classical Mongolian script. The margins show the real puzzle: a/e, o/u, t/d, k/g share letter shapes, so vowel harmony and context decide. Good old times. 🧐 #Suvarṇaprabhāsa

I took this photo at a bookstore in Uppsala 🇸🇪 in 2010. It’s a quote from the 3rd novel in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, “Life, the Universe and Everything”. It refers to Silastic Armorfiends of Striterax, who once tried punching potatoes to prevent their deadly aggression, but failed.

TBT 2011 — Sailing on an icebreaker ship from Stockholm 🇸🇪 to Tallinn 🇪🇪 on a frozen Baltic Sea. I took this photo at around 5 AM. I woke up to the piercing sound of the ship breaking ice. I thought it was the loudest noise I’d ever heard; but I seemed to be only soul that’s awake on the entire ship.
