Yes but we didn't see this in S3. It was explained as Aziraphale wanting to make the Second Coming a nice thing. But he didn't even know about it until he got to the elevator. So that's the plot hole that bugs me.

I really don't know at this point because I also thought the same as you, them remaining celestials. Then I read some takes that the ending is very Pratchettian. But I don't think he would have obliterated their memories. Not really. That's what bugs me so much, that who they were is just gone.

What bugs me as the biggest plot hole is that the Metatron told him about the Second Coming AFTER he accepted the job. He didn't actually know about it when he accepted. So the whole "I wanted to make it better" doesn't even make sense

Yeah. I feel we would have gotten the same ending but it would be more gentle and joyous. And then it would make more sense to go that way. But with how it was scripted here, it was just very tragic.

Same here. I read people's analyses of the themes and symbolism and I see the beauty of the story in some way. But the overarching feeling is that I just experienced death and that it literally destructed pieces of myself. My identity. And the way I viewed the world.

I agree. And this is where I struggle the most with #go3spoilers Because S1 was a satire of all the "big gestures" and "typical heroism". I felt like Pratchett showed many times in his characters in books that you don't need grandiosity to save the world. For me, S3 was... too epic.
