Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 23/09/2026Thanks for surfacing. I'll get this improved for our next update to the app. 210
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 18/09/2026Initially I opened mine and saw 31hrs until I saw the filter for device 😂🫣 My average is around 5 hours. Expected a little more with testing. 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 11/09/2026I don't have the specifics on Texture and the rest of CocoaPods changes but a big one was shifting our networking stack to a shared framework along with a couple of UI components. Also using Sentry's size analysis to find additional wins. 000
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 11/09/2026I've put @buffer for iOS on a little diet for v16.0. • No more CocoaPods (Fully SPM) • No more Texture/AsyncDisplayKit (All SwiftUI) • Consolidated extension targets • Better shared code reuse Estimated iPhone install size: 191 MB → 114 MB. That’s 40% smaller and I've not finished. 😄 172
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 10/09/2026Deleted more code than I added, so technically this is a small PR right? 🫣 000
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 09/09/2026Sold on the iPhone Duo. 😍 Glad that there’s a bit of time between now and it coming out. Adapting the UIs in @buffer.com and @alpenglowapp.com is going to be fun once the simulator lands. 020
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 08/09/2026Playing around with a few ideas for the new App Store Product Page Headers for @alpenglowapp.com and @starglowapp.com. I already had some artwork that was submitted, but never used, for App Store features, so I’m bringing it back to life with a little animation. 001
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 18/08/2026Sorry for the disruption. If you head to the App Store and search Buffer you should see an update. It fixes up a couple of issues in the new Composer. Our next TestFlight beta will also include the ability to paste images again if you'd like to check it out. 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 15/08/2026Thanks Neil. I’ll take a look at this and get it back in place in an upcoming update. 020
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 10/08/2026Some people don't get "ay8s" so felt like a nice way of explaining it. 😂 010
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 10/08/2026The site will now update as I share new social posts, linking duplicate posts together. Also added some GitHub-esque graphs showing my social media presence over the years. Going from the days of sharing anything and everything about what I’m doing day to day to the quieter years. 010
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 10/08/2026Moved my site over to Astro & Cloudflare over the weekend. Ended up doing a bit of archeology & brought back a bunch of posts I deleted when I transitioned from my old WordPress site to Next.js, then took that further by turning the site into an archive of my social media posts. ay8s.comay8s.comAndrew Yates — iOS EngineerStaff iOS Engineer at Buffer, building Alpenglow, Starglow, F1 Calendar and more. Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 28/07/2026Thanks for bringing this up. We've been discussing this in the last week or two so hope to have it available in the apps soon. 100
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/07/2026Thanks for confirming. I'm also on the betas, but seems to be working for me, also checked light/dark mode to see if that was a cause. 🤔 I'll keep an eye out and see if I can replicate this. Hoping those iPhone powered macOS widgets won't be needed for much longer. 👀 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/07/2026Not quite seeing the same @danielmorrisey.com. Curious are you also on macOS/iOS betas or just the latest versions? Could also be a weird quirk of switching between production and TestFlight builds potentially. 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/07/2026That's odd. I'll take a look later today for our next beta build. 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 09/07/2026I may have got a little carried away with App Shortcuts. 😅 Create a Post includes fields for all 11 platforms. Swapping out to show all fields that you’d find in our composer for the platform you select 🤓 040
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 22/06/2026Ye, it's a minor issue but they usually avoid the default changing the behavior in apps built using the previous SDK but 27 doesn't seem to be doing that yet. 020
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 22/06/2026@danielmorrisey.com Thanks for the TestFlight feedback! This one is specific to iOS 27, I'll see how the next few iOS 27 Beta builds behave as Apple refines the new navigation bar handling. We have it set up to show a blur but it seems to vanish in some cases. 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 20/06/2026All fixed up ready for a build on Monday. Thanks for catching! 100
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 20/06/2026Oh that Compose button 😂 I’ll get that fixed up. Guessing our empty states aren’t stretching enough to be centered properly. Ill add to my list for Monday. 👍 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 20/06/2026Mind shooting over a screenshot? I'm not quite seeing any alignment issues on my side but I’m probably viewing on a different device. 100
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 18/06/2026Let me know if you run into anything in the latest TestFlights. Sorry it took a while to clean these up. 100
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 18/06/2026@themaritimelord.bsky.social Just a heads up that the latest version of Buffer’s Composer includes fixes for several issues you reported during testing. I tracked down a some causes of the black screen issue, improved media handling, and we’ve now switched post creation over to our latest backend. 110
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 07/06/2026They aren’t at the moment but I’ve been tempted to stick them on the merch store. I’ll look into it. 020
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 29/05/2026This was a fun little effect to work on, switching from the homepage into Dev Mode. 👀 Already seeing some really neat stuff being built with it. buffer.com 081

Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 28/05/2026I don't think we had a specific feature for that in the Mac app itself but sounds like how the Buffer queue works out of the box if that simplifies things. Alos definitely recommend caching the Org, Channels etc to avoid those additional calls if you're not already. 👏 030
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026Still getting used to it. Quite liking it so far, definitely feels more satisfying to type than the Magic Keyboard. Only downside is the lack of Touch ID but planning on building a little 3D printed enclosure to put under my desk for that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz9E...youtube.comI Made a Tiny Touch ID Button for Mac!YouTube video by Snazzy Labs 010
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026Thanks for sharing! I've passed this on, we definitely have some improvements planned for making uploads easier in the future. 130
Reposted by Andrew Yatesjack @j4ck.xyz · 27/05/2026WIP menu bar app for the Mac which lets you instantly post to your configured social profiles via @buffer.com with the new #BufferAPI! gonna fix some annoying last things, then i'll release it on GitHub + Tangled :) 7336
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026Shout if you put it on TestFlight. I'm sure a bunch of us will happily give it a spin. 👍 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026I loved working on that! I'm hoping to return Buffer to macOS in the future with our iOS app going cross platform, mostly to update our Safari extension. Excited to see what @j4ck.xyz is cooking up 😍 250
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026Excited to see what everyone builds with it 🚀 buffer.com/apibuffer.comBuffer API | Build with BufferIntegrate Buffer's social media management into your own product with the Buffer API. 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026We’re now in an era where one person with AI tooling and a weekend can build things that previously needed entire teams. I’ve already been using the API for Alpenglow workflows and some eink dashboards. Also had a bunch of fun pulling together the API landing page, without touching code 😅 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026So seeing Buffer reopen things feels very full circle. The new API is GraphQL-based, has far better docs, and over time, the goal is to expose much (if not all) of Buffer through it, with new features increasingly being API-first. What excites me most is the timing. 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026It became a huge part of the ecosystem. People built integrations, automations, dashboards, experiments, and all kinds of tools. Over time, the API became partner-only, and honestly, we didn’t give it the love it deserved. Docs drifted, things aged, priorities shifted. 120
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 27/05/2026Next week marks 14 years for me at Buffer, and today we’re launching something I’m genuinely excited about: our new public API 🚀 When I first started working on the Buffer iPhone app back in 2011, the API was being built alongside the iPhone and Android apps. #BufferAPI 162

Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 16/04/2026Back from Deep Dish Swift, and all but one update for @alpenglowapp.com’s big 10th birthday release is now approved by Apple.(need more rejection socks) Time to get the Android update buttoned up along with some marketing bits. If anyone wants to check it out let me know! 040
Andrew Yates @ay8s.com · 15/04/2026Heading home after another fantastic @deepdishswift.com, filled with incredible people and engaging talks. Now, it’s time to head home and tackle taxes and deal with an app rejection 😅 131
