Still plugging away at side stuff in Control Resonant and all the rumours about Remedy not holding your hand are absolutely true. Unsure if blind or there's a map bug where once you've collected or busted open a barrier the icon is still there, or there's another hidden right beside it.

I haven't gotten severely motion sick playing Control Resonant using the traversal abilities so whoever was behind the camera work and checking collisions in tight spaces constantly, thank you.

The level design in Control Resonant is so very deliberate that you can only use special traversal abilities only when they let you. It's almost cute and overbearing how they make sure we're not going where we're not supposed to, like worried parents baby-proofing the furniture.

I had a less than charitable colourful opinion about it based on years of vents I have heard from former and burnt out peers who have worked with tv writers on games and that Upset People. The work that goes into games is so often misunderstood and underestimated it was viewed with great derision.

It's helpful when vendors are cognizant of the scene they're walking into at a show but end of day I'd put this on the organizers for laying down the rules, reviewing their entries and curating the space for their visitors. Some people don't and probably can't table at cons for a living.

Today I just discovered layer comps. I'm already sat in my chair but I need to lie down. Back in the day there was another version of this method where we used the animation timeline to do layer comps but it acted like history states. One wrong move and you mess up your file.

One of the best/worst things about losing weight is I'd have to buy new wardrobe pieces and wear belts until I get pants that fit till then. I got these maglock belts from Distil Union and they're a little sauceless without a buckle, but they have been a gamechanger. Recommend.

I just figured out how to make super basic halftones in substance designer and it is the most occam's razor thing ever. A gradient in tile sampler's vector map and mask map, cranking scale vector map multiplier to 1 then messing with Mask Map Threshold. (a note for future me)

I used to have to scour for hours for commercial free fonts with flair to them but Pixel Surplus makes it a little easier and some fonts are much cheaper. Google Fonts is also another solid option where localisation is considered [ty Noto Sans], and Gumroad for display fonts.

Sometimes I hear gamedev battlefield stories about how stuff got made in such a specific way that I just had to lie down. It's genuinely funny and then it's really bleak delivered in that gallows humour way because it's how we deal. Games are damn hard sometimes for the most unnecessary reasons.
