i placed a hold on this book the day my library acquired a digital copy (yesterday, December 9) & they have already added a second copy to their catalog just an example of why its important to utilize your public library, even if you prefer ebooks or audiobooks over physical books

The image depicts a digital library hold screen featuring the cover of "Stranger Things Novel 5" titled "One Way or Another" by Caitlin Schneiderhan. The book cover shows two individuals illuminated by a bright flashlight against a blue and green hazy background. The title "Stranger Things" is prominently displayed in bold red text, with "One Way or Another" in light green below. The image has a slightly distressed, vintage look. Below the cover is the library hold information indicating a wait of about 5 weeks at The Free Library of Philadelphia. The information includes queue details and updates about the library acquiring more copies.

i have to be out of my house in ~7 days. i am low on boxes, need to get my car inspected (since it will be parked on the street & PPA will ticket me $45 a day without an up to date inspection), need to pay the tax & fee for my upgraded phone (see thread) & owe hundreds for the electric bill. 💕💸

I read some books this year! Here are my top picks...

Reading Recap 2024. I read 40 books this year. Some from University (English Literature courses), some from book clubs, and some personal. Here are my top 5 picks (which probably indicate something about my personality): 1. What My Bones Know by Stephanie Foo 2. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy 3. Beloved by Toni Morrison 4. The English Understand Wool by Helen DeWitt 5. Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder

Having a moment thinking about the injustice of doctors appointments, the power imbalance around appointment times. I am not allowed to be late. But the doctor is. This appointment is crucial to me, not to the doctor. Why is it rude and disrespectful for me to be late but not for the doctor?

Yoghurt is home! She's groggy and sooky but she's okay!

Avoticat @avoticat.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

Vet called to let us know Yoghurt's dental work is all done and went well. I am hugely relieved, it's always stressful when an animal has to go under anaesthesia. The relief made me realise how tired the anxiety was making me. I wish I could pick her up now but I can't for another 1.5 hours.

000

Avoticat @avoticat.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

The vet called to let me know Yoghurt is doing well, but that she needs teeth extracted and so it is going to be more expensive than I can afford. Fortunately, they offer a payment plan, and they're being very kind about it all.

011

Avoticat @avoticat.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

I dropped my pupper off at the vet for a teeth cleaning. I know it's a routine procedure and everything will be fine (although I will be broke afterwards lol), but the fact that she has to go under always makes me so anxious.
