The square shaped look gives off a more confident demeanor, I think. It’s still soft and rounded around the edges so to me it feels like a combination of confident and trusting. Like nothing sensitive I’d say I’d say to this guy would surprise him or make me feel bad for.

I stalled for a while not writing down a review because I didn’t want to just say something negative. I’m glad I invested the $20 all those years ago because it’s a remarkable accomplishment to finish developing a game as beautiful as Spirit Swap. The gameplay and story just wasn’t to my tastes.

OR if the whole grid was already filled in and there was no fear of reaching the ceiling entirely. Having them constantly bubble up from the bottom, instead of them all set from the start or even on a timer per row, made it not very fun for me.

It may just be my opinion but if the goal was for a more relaxed approach, even if it’s competitive, the movement style should be different, or an option. If the spirit orbs themselves were coming down in Tetris or Dr. Mario style

The mechanics and aesthetics are polished for the visual novel elements, as well as the swap mode, but I felt quite discouraged I couldn’t get past certain encounters without skipping the battle entirely.

Because of this I found myself laser focused on my bracketed space for spirit swapping. I thought it would be relaxed enough to enjoy the entire screen, watching the characters dance, being able to strategize better based on the other’s progress. Instead I had to account for only my own progress.

The part I don’t agree with from this person’s review is that it didn’t feel relaxing to compete against the main characters’ friends, at least past the first two encounters. Even in the challenge mode unless it is on the lowest setting, which is incredibly slow, it exponentially gets faster.

I agree that the story felt a bit short and shallow. The entirety of the story mode, in spite of its intriguing writing, feels like just a prologue to introduce the characters before a more in-depth story unfolds. But once I think the story’s just begun it ends and lets you go in dating sim mode.

I thought this game was a visual spectacle with a lot going for it: aesthetically, setting, character designs, and the lighting/shading on animations was so eye catching.

I guess to tease this thought-thread a bit further: Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 have camera modes but the characters are unaware since it’s ooc. Zenless Zone Zero has a camera mode that exists in context (characters look at you, there’s selfies, sometimes they ask for pictures) so, Camera Game

It might seem like I’m contradicting myself for not including games with a camera mode in the Camera Games category, but like my worries with Lushfoil the mechanics of the camera mode are usually just a refined form of screenshotting. Lushfoil has an in-game camera though? I’m overthinking this.

like that’s the whole point of it on its own, but the ‘camera mode’ being the whole thing seems like it could be a shallow experience. there’s another game page on steam called Photography Simulator that has a premise assuming the role of a wildlife photographer at their own watchtower area

for Camera Quest I dunno if I should consider photography sims, like Lushfoil specifically simulators are all about their interactive elements and I’m worried that unlike city builders or farming/train sims it will only be walking around and operating a camera
