106 trains per day....in comparison, the LIRR, which serves a pop of over 8 million (around 3 mil in Nassau and Suffolk), sees 947 DAILY TRAINS on 319 route miles (about 160 route miles electrified) operating 24/7. Average 862 riders per mile and 330K weekday riders in Q2 2026 and it shows.

Man, I love SMART so much! SMART was the first Bay Area transit agency to recover its pre-pandemic ridership, recording 750,016 annual passengers in 2023 (4% above 2019). SMART carried more than 1.1 million passengers in FY25, 32% higher than FY24 and nearly 50% above 2019 levels!

Considering there's a Tony Soprano statue at Vilnius Central station, I say yes, he IS an urbanist!
A 15-foot-tall statue of Tony Soprano wearing a bathrobe and boxers stands outside the train station in Vilnius, Lithuania. Created in 2009 by artist Donatas Jankauskas, the sculpture is inspired by the iconic scene of Tony getting his morning newspaper

“all while maintaining the iconic Madison Square Garden” bringing this back
A picture of Avery at a NY Rangers game in March 2025 between the Rangers and the Oilers.

It shows me wearing a St Patrick’s Day-themed green Rangers jersey and a War on Cars yellow winter hat holding a piece of a paper that states “Move MSG, Build A New Penn” with the Pennsylvania Railroad logo in the middle.

Yaphank: the Least-used station on the LIRR Just 4,906 passengers in 2023 used this station. Surrounded by farmland and county gov buildings. Hopefully with it closing soon to be relocated, the ridership will get boosted thanks to Brookhaven National Laboratory.

so it's not a problem when those who can't or choose not to drive have to pay billions and billions every year for so many highways, but all of a sudden, it's a problem when people who drive fund transit? Make it make sense smh. Transit benefits all. Less traffic, less pollution, more options!
"Public Investment" at the top of the image shows a congested elevated highway with trucks and cars stuck in traffic.

"Wasteful subsidy" at the bottom of the image shows an electrified two-car train running on pantograph power.

"LESS THAN 10% of our city's residents" So? More people would be biking if there was better infrastructure to protect cyclists. It's that simple. Bike lanes mean less traffic, shorter travel times, fewer crashes, good for business, and fewer cyclists for drivers to deal with! Everyone benefits!

In Hoboken, NJ, by 2024, Hoboken built 47 rain gardens to not only mitigate flooding, some of the largest of which can detain up to 26K gallons of rainwater, but also to double as curb extensions as part of the city's Vision Zero efforts! Hoboken hasn't had a traffic death since 2017!

While the first light-rail train to cross a permanent floating bridge, it's not actually the first passenger train to cross one believe it or not! Milwaukee Road trains crossed the Pile-Pontoon Railroad Bridge between Iowa and Wisconsin between the 1870s and 1960s. Little Marquette was once a hub!

While not a municipal elevator, the elevator at 9th St/Congress St station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail in Hoboken functions not only so people in The Heights of Jersey City can use the station, but as an accessible way to get between JC and Hoboken as well!
The platforms at 9th St/Congress St station on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail in NJ. There are green shelters on both platforms, and an elevator at the far end of the platform on the right that leads to The Heights neighborhood of Jersey City. The elevator and the station are alongside the Palisades. There are apartments on the left side of the image.

You can see a historic LIRR snowplow at the Railroad Museum of Long Island's Greenport location! Jaws III was built by the LIRR shops in December 1915 atop a 1907 flatcar, rebuilt in 1978, retired in 1986, and is now preserved in Greenport!

🎵Sailing the seas depends on the helmsman, Life and growth depends on the sun. Rain and dewdrops nourish the crops, Making revolution depends on Mark Carney Thought!🎵
A classic Mao Zedong propaganda poster with Mark Carney's face photoshopped in front of Mao's. Red text on the bottom reads "業跟伟大领袖卡尼主席奋勇前进!" which means "Let's bravely march forward with our great leader, Chairman Carney!" The chairman looks on as there's a red sky and people marching with flags in the distance.

The US government going against the desires of an indigenous group in the Americas? Hmm, where have I seen that before....
A painting called American Progress from 1872. The painting depicts a landscape of North America in the 19th century. The right side of the picture portrays locations on the east coast, which are already settled by Europeans. There, New York City can be seen, along with various ships around the coast of Manhattan. Also illustrated is the Brooklyn Bridge, which started construction just 2 years earlier and would not be completed until 1883 – 11 years later.

In the midpoint of the painting is Columbia, a female personification of the United States. She lays a telegraph wire with one hand and carries a school book in the other. Columbia represents the movement of "civilization" from the already well-settled East to the much more sparsely populated by Europeans West, leading settlers either on foot or by stagecoach, horseback, Conestoga wagon, wagon train, or riding steam trains.

To the left of the painting is depicted the western part of North America. The landscape is drawn to be much darker than the places already settled by Europeans with large dark clouds hanging over the distant mountains. A herd of American bison and group of indigenous people can be seen to be running into the dark, away from the approaching people.

In the foreground, there is a group of settlers, heading West, where a bear appears to growl at them, while behind them stands an already established farm with a person tilling the fields and another herding livestock, representing the Midwest.

Their (unofficial) flag is quite the banger The last vestige of the once vast New France! After going back and forth between British and French, it was resettled in 1816 by France with mostly Basques, Bretons and Normans, hence why you can see the flags of their groups here!

Just comparing Camden's buses to North Jersey alone: Buses feed right into the PATH, Newark Light Rail, and HBLR systems. Journal Square is the second-busiest PATH station because of both TOD and it being a crucial bus hub for NJT and jitney routes that serve across Hudson and Bergen County
One of the enclosed bus lanes at the Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City. The image includes the NJT 80 bus heading to Gates Ave. The Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City. The Brutalist-style transportation center stands in the foreground as well as bushes and some barren trees that are part of One PATH Plaza, while two of the towers of the Journal Squared development can be seen in the background.

If I had a nickel for every time a guy named Cuomo lost in the Democratic primary while running for mayor of NYC, ran as a third-party in the general election and lost 50% to 41%, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
A pic taken from the Wikipedia page on the 1977 NYC mayoral election. It shows Ed Koch, the Democratic candidate, defeating Mario Cuomo, the Liberal candidate, with 50 percent of the vote, 717,376 people. Mario Cuomo got 41 percent of the vote, 587,913 people. A pic taken from the Wikipedia page on the 2025 NYC mayoral election. It shows Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate, defeating Andrew Cuomo, the "Fight & Deliver" third-party/independent candidate, and Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate, with 50.4 percent of the vote or 1,036,051 people. Andrew Cuomo got 41.6 percent of the vote, 854,995 people. Curtis Sliwa got 7.1 percent of the vote, 146,137 people.
