Oops, I put that wrong! Glad your levels are in the normal range and fingers crossed the tumor remains banished like Gandalf just smacked up a balrog.

Here's another one of the Native Mammals of Oregon coloring sheets I did. If anyone wants to print it out for any reason except selling them- go for it. This one's land weasels!!! My favorite little guys and gals. #PNW #wildlife #Oregon #nativeanimals
A black and white coloring sheet featuring some Native Oregon Weasels (land based ones, at least, no Sea Otter) It has a Fisher in the top right corner, top-middle is a Short-tailed Weasel or Ermine or Stoat, then a Northern River Otter in the top right. The middle animal is a Wolverine, a Long-tailed Weasel, a Mink, an American Marten or Pine Marten, and then an American Badger in the bottom right.

Another coloring page for "Native Mammals of Oregon" if anyone wants to print it off for non-commercial use. This is some of our native cervids. Mule/White-tailed/Black-tailed Deer, one of our Elk, and the very recent Moose that are just kinda-sorta living up in the NE of the state. #art #wildlife
Black and white line art drawing with text identifying each of the five "Native Oregon Cervids" There's a shiras moose, a Columbian white-tailed deer, a Columbian black-tailed deer, a rocky mountain mule deer, and an elk that mentions it's representing both rocky mountain elk and Roosevelt elk.

Given: him being like this saved his mate and cygnets because a trigger happy "hunter" tried blasting them all and Chuck threw himself between them so everyone else survived. (They caught and prosecuted the guy, Chuck was very beloved locally so I think someone turned him in.)

Yeah. One of my friends was a biologist that was helping establish breeding pairs with these guys, this is her video, (He's Chuck), and it was cute but also a curse because people use it to dunk on swans and say things like you should be hostile back.

!! We literally named one of our pyrenees this (he's in my header image) because he was a flop-lump and its wild to see it used like we independently stumbled upon it because it just sounded like it fit the action of -this- so perfectly.

Ha! I didn't even notice. Before I had to give their flight feathers a trim to keep them from hopping the fence into the jaws of coyotes they could get some pretty good air. One of the girls almost crashed into a tree 15ft up.

Gym? Why would anyone need that when they could just workout by constantly forgetting the garden tools they need on the other end of the property, cleaning out coops, and wheelbarrowing manure onto the garden beds?

Ah what a great view. Yeah Mt. Washington and Three Fingered Jack were sitting there hiding in plain sight because there's no snow on them this time of year and they always look so tiny from far away.

Never ceases to floor me when I can say "I grew all this!" *except some of the seasoning and olive oil. But I'm determined to have olive trees so that will be cool for me one day too! #gardening #garden

oops, 5: I forgot to mention this is solely a perennial garden. All annual crops will be planted in my standard market-style row garden that's elsewhere on the property.

Mint is going in pots where elsewhere in the yard where it can't so easily escape and spread. I'm also getting Yuzu as a substitute for outdoor lemons/limes so I don't mind cheating a bit 4/4

I'm getting Jackmon's Blue Rue and Winter Savory to act as a tall ground cover because One Green World mentions they're Mederterainian herbs and only get 2ft tall. I have oregano and am going to see if I can get za'atar to survive winter. But would love more suggestions for low growers too 3/4

I'd also love ideas for culinary plants besides olives, strawberry tree, fig, and pomegranate. Any trees/bushes need to be able to be pruned to stay under 10 feet since the (eventually) 20ft olive trees make up the 4 corners and I want some height structure. 2/4

#Gardening Question! I'm trying to make a culinary garden that's as Mediterranean/Middle Eastern as possible (not far from Portland) and I'm really sad I can't find Sicilian Sumac in the US. Sites are saying Smooth or Staghorn Sumac taste very similar but I'm dubious. Anyone know? 1/4

The 2nd time (where I am now) was a little easier because, even though the pantry is a small place, it was more clear on their website and I now knew there was a food bank/pantry finder for my state. Which leads me to believe both aspects need more awareness and easier search functionality.

From first hand experience: both times I started market-style farming in a region, it was hard to find out. 1st time: I had to ask people at the local farmer's market where they donated, when they mentioned on socials that they did, bc I couldn't find the answer online even though it was a big org /

I would hope. And there is a big need for that for sure. I sadly think for a lot of people it's a lack of understanding/caring/empathy though. They don't feel connected to The Others who aren't in their mindset and bubble.

AI for art is so baffling and sad. Creating art has been a part of what it's been to be human since maybe before we were even this species. In a time that we perceive as survival being difficult we still made so much art. Creating is obviously a fundamental part of our biology, survival, and hearts

Hard agree. I found some and they got donated to the local food pantry! ❤️👍

People say LGD (Livestock Guardian Dogs) are stubborn/hard to train- but positive reinforcement and mutual respect is the key. Ours have all been highly reactive and/or anxious when we rescued them but once they see you can be trusted and that your asks make sense: they want to work with you

Here's another coloring page I made for "Native Mammals of Oregon" if any of you want to print it off for personal, non-profiting, use. This one is for Lagomorphs, aka Rabbits, Hares, and the ever endearing Pika! #PNW #Oregon #Art #Animals #Wildlife
A coloring sheet for Native Oregon Lagomorphs. It features black and white linework for a pygmy rabbit, an american pika, a mountain cottontail, a snowshoe hare, a white-tailed jackrabbit, and a black tailed jack rabbit.

A photo of a backpacker hiking with 4 dogs (there's a small one by her feet that's barely visible) in a burnt out forest in front of some mountainsA kitchen with mushrooms and strawberries on a tea towel, some pink roses in charming little ceramic table oil pouring pots, with more antiques on shelves in the background. 5 chickens in a daisy filled meadow with a blue chicken coop in the background and a dark forest behind that.Either a red legged frog or an Oregon spotted frog being held in a hand with a gardening glove on only because I needed to move it out of the way of a felled tree so it didn't get crushed while we were cleaning the branches up.

Hello everyone! I'm a disabled artist/hiker/gardener/animal rescuer/conservationist who vibes best with LGD and birbs. So we got a farm (that's mostly a forest we want to preserve) and are slowly building gardens and orchards in the already developed bits with the goal to donate what we don't eat ❤️
2 large white dogs with backpacks on look at the mountains in the distanceA painting of a mountain goat with fireweedA photo of a vegetable garden in the process of being created. 3 domestic geese are in the tall grass and flowers in the foreground, a forest is in the background.A large white dog looks back at the camera. She's in the middle of a lush green forest. There's a tall wire fence that's barely visible because the forest continues in such a vast manner on either side of it.

Your dog is fluffy and lanky in all the same ways my dog is fluffy and lanky 😆 I'd almost think they were brothers but mine's a year older. They have the floofiest of tails!

I made some "Native Mammals of Oregon" coloring sheets a long while back, figured maybe I would post them here for any passersby who might one day see them and want to print them out for any non-commercial use. This one is "Native Oregon Felines" #art #coloringbook #nativeanimals #PNW #oregon

Currently drowning in cherry tomatoes. Which is at least a good problem? I need to find some containers I can use to donate these. Because I have just about as many from 3 days ago too. #garden #gardening

Yeah, exactly, with littles it just seems so important to give them healthy sleep. I hear them all slowly wake up in the morning and its so cute.

*I did reptile rescue and the herp husbandry for a zoological facility. Basically writing experts for instructions for native species most people aren't legally allowed to keep and then ensuring everything was set-up appropriately. Basically I get all nerdy about enclosure set-ups 😆

Chicks usually aren't dumb, they learn so fast, the first 3 days for example are incredible, and I generally hate lights because even the red ones seem to keep them up more than just a dim "night light" so they can find their warm spot or friends
110
A Very Boring Farm @averyboringfarm.bsky.social · 30/08/2026
I very much hate having everything be consistently warm. It's dangerous for reptiles to not have a range and I prefer to let the animals always have a choice as to where they're most comfy. (Plus I've had hens raise chicks in winter and they all live.)
