#Hobbystreak 266. Thursday night Old World! I had a skirmish with the Empire and man Demigryphs have hands at 750 points

#Hobbystreak 265. Bretonnia building continues with the next unit. I put together the first 10 of my foot knights with another 10 to go.

#Hobbystreak 264. I made a discovery today. The Bretonnia army box I have is missing all the heads for the horses which is some BS. I have friends searching hits boxes to help out but in the meantime I built the 3 Pegasus knights.

#Hobbystreak day 263. It was another day for the peasants. I wasn't really paying attention but I have to appreciate how delightfully gross they made the face sculpts on these guys.

#Hobbystreak 262. October always seems to be the month where I start on new big projects and this year I am keeping the tradition alive. Today I sat down and got started on my next army project with Bretonnia. The first step was building a whole horde of peasants.

#Hobbystreak 261. Between running errands and stuff today I didn't have a ton of time for hobby but I did paint Jim Raynor's little robot buddy. I'm pretty happy with how the hover effect came out. It feels very comic book.

#Hobbystreak 260. I spent most of the day organizing a future hobby project but it wasn't really anything photo worthy. Aside from that I sat down and started painting Jimmy and I am pretty happy with the StarCraft 1 inspired paint scheme.

#Hobbystreak day 259. Tonight the chaos dwarves were looking to right past wrongs done by Cathay. Unfortunately my caravan guards found themselves the target of that fury

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

#Hobbystreak 258. I finished off the assault marines. I feel like I did an okay job in making each of them a bit more unique but I think a lot will come down to the paint job. The weather cleared up though so I was able to get primer on Jimmy and his robot buddy.

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

#Hobbystreak 257. I have had a box of 30k assault marines hanging around for a while so I started building them. I want to make these ones more veteran so I am trying to add a bit of customization to each body.

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

#Hobbystreak 256. Jim Raynor was a seriously pleasant kit to build. The drone is kind of neat and if nothing else it will make a good test model. I was hoping to get them primed tomorrow but it's supposed to rain all day so I will need to find something else to do.

I tell myself I got it to paint but I think we all know what's about to happen here

#Hobbystreak 255. The Cavaliers return. Relations between our employer Alyina and the merc company Tread of Doom have broken down over a murder charge. The Tread attempts to break out their imprisoned man and the Cavaliers as the closest unit are forced to intercept.

#Hobbystreak 254. All the terrain is done. It was a fun side project and I think everything turned out nicely. I'm looking forward to the next game where I get to put it all on the table.

0392

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 253. Head first back into terrain painting. Thankfully it was a slow work day so I got quite a bit done. I finished the trees I prepped the other night and then got everything else drybrushed. One this is done every piece of terrain I have will be painted.

0241

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 252. I needed a break from terrain painting. Tonight was our Old World club night and I played a 750pt battlemarch game against our Bretonnia. It was a slug fest of a game and ended in a draw despite my Shugengan's best attempts to blow himself up miscasts.

0252

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 251. The bunker and trenches came out really nicely if I do say so myself. The monument one step paints have come in very handy considering the sheer amount of paint I have needed for covering everything. I also drybrushed the next set of trees.

0282

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 250. The first batch of trees are done and I am on to the trench lines and pill box.

0231

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 249. Before I start on my next big winter projects I wanted to take some time out and get all my 40k terrain painted. Today I kicked it off by doing a bunch of dry brushing on trees and a bit of testing with slap chop.

Its one of the neoprene savanah mats but I'm not sure which one.

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 248. I was up early this morning on account of a whining dog so I got a bunch of terrain primed for painting. I also played a Battletech game where I got completely stomped because I couldn't roll higher than a 6 all game.

1271

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 247. It was a really pleasant day out so I spent some time out on the patio putting some terrain back together after it got smashed up in a moving box. Mainly to keep from getting high on the epoxy. After that I finished the predator tank.

0172

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 246. Back to tonk painting. The base layers are coming along nicely and, at least where my mediocre freehand skills are concerned, I think the unit stripe on the turret has come out nicely.

0150

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 245. Thursday night old world. My Cathayan convoy was attacked by a horde of skellingtons. While very spooky they were no match for the one man army that is a Shugengan at 750 points

0141

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 244. Well the rain today was no joke. I was without power for about 4 hours. Once I had lights again though I started working on the Predator tank I have had floating around my backlog for a while.

0211

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 243. And that's all my peasant archers ready to go. It's apparently supposed to rain non stop for the next few days so I'm not quite sure what I will be working on next.

0232

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 242. I had a massive thunderstorm hit last night and ended up falling asleep while the power was out and forgot to post. I got my last 5 peasant archers back on the desk. My goal is to have them done in time for a Thursday night game.

0120

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 241. The Royalston Cavaliers are back on a new contract. The Alyina Mercantile League has contracted for a garrison company. Pirates have raided their garrison world attempting to loot clan tech supplies with the Cavaliers taking the field to stop them.

0110

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 240. I had some friends over today and we tried out the Dune board game. It was fun but I feel like there is this board game rules creep where they just keep getting more and more complex. And I'm not sure who the target audience is. Some painting followed.

1292

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 239. Today at work I spent 6 hours as part of an interview panel for an open position that doesn't even belong to my team. My brain is completely fried so I only spent maybe a half hour on painting.

0152

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 238. I opted out of Old World club night tonight because I got a visit from the insomnia fairy and I didn't feel like driving on less than 2 hours of sleep. That didn't stop me from painting though! Surely I won't look at that with regret tomorrow morning.

0181

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 237. I didn't have much hobby time today but I got some more work done on the horse.

1231

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 236. Another Cathayan character in the works. The goal here is to paint them identically as my BSB so that I can use him to represent the same character.

0181

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 235. I had a friend over today to play some 5th edition 40k. I'll be honest it's probably the most fun I have had playing 40k in several years.

0140

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 234. I med up with a friend for a quick battlemarch game because he wanted to test out some Cathay stuff to see if it would be too OP against new players. Even with no upgrades the Shugengan is really strong at 600 points. I also finished my marine characters.

0110

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 233. My 5th ed game got postponed on account of a barbecue. Upside being ingot a bunch of painting done and I have a couple of leftover pork roasts I took home to make carnitas with.

090

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 232. Back to 40k character painting. I think this might be my favorite version of a Chaplain I have ever worked on.

1192

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 231. I had a rare battle against the dwarfs which seem to be the least represented army in my town. It was a great match but I could not successfully role a leadership test to save my life.

070

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 230. It's been a bit since I last worked on anything Dark Angels but I think I have been slowly getting my friends around to the idea of playing 5th edition so I'm kind of stoked for 40k again. If things go well I should have my first game this weekend.

0120

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

#Hobbystreak day 229. This has been a fun little side project and now I have the husband and wife duo to display on my shelf. Tomorrow we return to the grim darkness.

0172

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

#hobbystreak day 228. Work on the VF-22 is coming along pretty quick. I guess since this is my second time building one of these kits I know what to expect already. Still, like most bandai kits it's just a really pleasant experience.

080

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 227. We have a few days of high humidity and at the moment I don't have any primed minis to work on. I decided to take a bit of a break from army work and get a start on the other VF-22 I've had sitting around.

0151

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 226. The iron hale gunners are done. I should see how they do on the table some time next week.

1292

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 225. I got a lot of painting done today and these ironhale gunners are starting to look a lot more complete

0140

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 224. Tonight was a Battlemarch game against high elves. A bad leadership roll cost me the game because Jade warriors broke and ran then got run down. Regardless it was a good night and I'm happy to have a regular play community again.

0110

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 223. We are back into Cathay painting proper with some Iron Hale Gunners.

0181

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 222. A quick mech painting project down. I also had some extra time so I got around to basing my Cathay battle standard bearer.

0271

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 221. We return to painting! The Cavaliers latest additions are coming along nicely and a with a quick bit of basing tomorrow they should be ready to go.

0181

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 220. It's an Old World kind of weekend. Today was a very bloody encounter between the wood elves and a Cathay scouting party. Cathay "won" with only a handful of survivors staggering away from the slaughter

1151

Avellion @avellion.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

#Hobbystreak day 219. A casual old world game with a friend who brought his lizardmen to try out the renegade rule. A very close game but the servants of the great plan proved victorious.
