It's hard to see, but that child is the one of the deadliest people on the planet. Day 12 theme - #toss. #inktober #inktober2026 #children #wall #protest #genocide #FreePalestine

An illustration of a small child throwing a rock at a wall. The wall is a border wall and this is apparent because of the protest graffiti on the wall as well as the fence on the top of it. This is in fact a border wall between Palestine and the Israeli peoples. This section is a famous mural that I didn't really do justice. There is a signature of MJC and a date of 10/12 in a poster on the wall.

I never needed to use one but I always enjoyed seeing the #SafeSpace signs around my hometown growing up. I saw one on the side of a #Dominos while visiting today. Day 11 theme - #rescue. #inktober #inktober2026 #building #store #parkinglot #pizza

An illustration of a Dominos Pizza in a corner lot, with its own parking. It is presumably evening as the sky is light, but there is an outdoor light visible on the side of the building. The back and roof are visible as well. There is a door on the back of the building.as well as a ladder for easy access to the roof. The front of a vehicle is barely visible on the right side of the image and it is parked in front of the back door. The light that is shining is on the visible wall. Also a wrap around window is on the left side of the building. There is grass across the street that extends to the left edge. The corner of the block is roughly in the middle of the left edge. The street goes up and down at roughly a 60° angle from the left edge, up to the right and down to the right. The restaurant is on the right half of the image with it's leading edge at the center of the image. Behind the building is a grove of trees. The image is grayscaled throughout. The streets are a dark pitch looking color. The parking lot is a dark grey. The building is a pale gray. The signature of MJC and date of 10/11 are visible in the sidewalk of the building.

A lot of traveling today, but I still managed to #magic one out. Day 10 theme - #mystical. #inktober #inktober2026 #wizard #orb #smoke #hat

An illustration of an old wizard. In front of the wizard is an orb of pondering. There is a significant amount of smoke around the orb and the wizard. Only the face and head of the wizard are visible, but this is due to the illustration not the smoke. The smoke is relegated to the area under the face around the orb. There is long thin grey hair coming from base of the hat around the face. The wizard has a large nose and moustache. The wizard is wearing a standard wide brim hat. There is a signature of MJC and a date of 10/10 just to the left of the head under the brim of the hat.

It makes me so upset. Day 08 theme - #stinky. #inktober #inktober2026 #corrupt #rotten #upsetting

A caricature of the seal of the president of the United States. The writing on the outer circles has added 'of ME' to the end. The flourishes are illustrated to be dicks. The heraldic eagle is carrying money on the left and a knotted whip on the right. The eagle has Trump's signature quaff and a poop above it. There is a signature of MJC and a date of 10/08 written after the editing to the ring of the seal.

I was too tired after trivia last night to post, so first thing first! Day 07 theme - #panic. #inktober #inktober2026 #faces #anxiety #heartbeat #eyes #erratic

An abstract illustration of the idea of panic. This feels like it could be more like anxiety. There are 3 different stylized faces with varying degrees of anxiety. Each face has a mouth, but there are a plethora of lines scribbled over everything. Some lines are straight and some are jagged zig zags. The zig zags look like erratic heartbeats. There is a signature on the right side of the picture of MJC and a date of 10/07.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Day 06 theme - #ogre. #inktober #inktober2026 #tortoise #ponder #slow #shadows

An illustration of a large humanoid creature. It has a simple face styled after an ogre - a large jaw with protruding lower canine teeth. The creature is seated in a mountain pose with one arm on the ground to rest on. The arm on the ground is the right arm, but the left side of the picture. The creature is looking down, questioningly, at a tortoise standing in its shadow. The tortoise is small compared to the other creature. We have no other way to measure size.

The month isn't a week in and so much has already happened. Please don't break a screen giving me a digital high-five. Day 05 theme - #smack. #inktober #inktober2026 #hand #highfive #wifive #youareloved #pickmeup #rightorleft

An ink illustration of a human hand. It is open wide but not spread with the palm facing the viewer. The thumb is on the right so it would be a right hand we are looking at. In the space between the thumb and fore finger there is text stating, "Smack It for you are AWESOME." There is a significant amount of detail on the palm done in a grey so as to be different from the more distinct hand lines, which are in black. The outline is thicker than the rest of the line work. The hand stops at the wrist in the bottom left corner of the page. There is a small signature of MJC and the date of 10/05 to the left of the pinky finger.

Do you think a cactus feels the heat like a human does? Day 04 theme - #cactus. #inktober #inktober2026 #nature #flower #sun #heat #ponder #desert

An illustration of a lone cactus in the desert on a sunny day. The cactus is in the lower left half of the picture while the sun is in the upper right. The cactus has stark shadows along its left side and on the ground below. The cactus looks to be on the edge of a valley with a hillside to the left and an open basin behind the cactus. There is a large rock to the right. There are a few clouds and they are drawn in 2 inks. Much of the illustration is done in grey and a black. The sun doesn't have a perfectly round body. The cactus itself has a bloomed flower on its top in the style of a hat.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I really gotta start drawing earlier in the day! Day 03 theme - #miniature. #inktober #inktober2026 #night #city #dome #mountain #grayscale

An illustration of a mountainous landscape at night. The mountains are weighted unevenly across the page. There is a dip near the left and about halfway through the page the mountains shoot up to the top. Through the lite use of perspective the mountains on the right seem to come toward the viewer. At the base of the mountain, below the low point, is a very small city within a dome. Various shades of grey squiggly lines are used as detail in these mountains. There is a deep night sky above the same place in the mountain range. There are visible stars in the sky. As you get closer to the horizon the illustration seems to light up. There is a signature of MJC with the date of 10/03 in a mountain range.

I found this beautiful #rose at the Capitol grounds on my way home this #foliagefriday. Would this be #scarlet or just a deep #red? #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #roses #bloom

A picture of a group of blooming roses. They are blooming in an arch they are all a very deep shade of red. The stal they are growing on is coming up from the bottom of the frame, slightly to the right. They are backed by a blurry sidewalk that goes from the upper left to the lower right edges. Small green leaves are visible below the roses.

Out grocery shopping today on #foliagefriday! Luckily these bad boys came free with our house! After 4 months both goldenrod got to be taller than me! No wonder they bent over #backproblems. #nature #photography #naturephotography #plants #flower #flowers #yellow #gold #goldenrods #pollinator

A picture of two large plants bending towards the ground. The plants are both flowering with yellow gold blooms. The blooms are on stalks out of the center plant stem. In the picture the blooms look like pollen and take up a majority of the stalk they are on and then it tapers into a dark green. Both plants are leaning in from the left side out of the frame. There is a hilly yard behind the plants that is mostly browned. Past the barely visible street behind the hill at the right side of the frame is a church with a clear blue sky above. The two plants take up a large portion of the foreground but there is no dramatic shift in focus.

Here is another angle of my #hibiscus from a few minutes ago. It's going to be really happy this weekend.

A picture of a blooming mimosa hibiscus. There are several unopened buds around it, one is very close and pointing towards the camera while the others are around the blooming flower. There are dark green early buds all around the dark green plant. The plant is up against a grey wall and is facing up towards the left corner.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 31/07/2026

It's cloudy and wet this #foliagefriday, so it's feeling some kind of #tropical! This was the first week I had a simultaneous #hibiscus bloom! Both colors are so rich. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #red #orange #mimosa #dual #warm #blooms

A picture of two separate tropical hibiscus flowers in bloom. Each plant is in its own grey pot on the cement next to a building. The angle of the picture is mostly down towards the ground from above the flower pots but slightly tilted. The flower on the left is a bright saturated red and the one on the right is a vibrant orange with a deep pink center. The pistol and stamen are visible on both with yellow pollen on the tip. You can see the leaves of each plant on the edges of the picture. The whole picture is tinted warmly bringing out a tiny bit more saturation in the flowers than a regular eyeball would. The flowers are facing towards the opposite sides but also at the photographer.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

I hid inside to play video games today but there is still a picture for #foliagefriday. We have a few medium #sunflowers growing below the bird feeder and the first one has opened! Please enjoy these #bright faces! #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #solitary #yellow #macro

A picture of a sunflower pointed directly at the camera. Every petal is pointed outward. About 1/2 of the stamen have protruded so the flower has more to bloom at the time of the picture. There is a large green leaf to the bottom right with stark shadows from the petals on it. There is a fence as the background in deep shadow.

A picture of the partially bloomed center of a sunflower. You can clearly see many of the stamen pointing out ready to participate in the circle of life. There are bright yellow petals all around.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

A second #lily this #foliagefriday wild from my own front yard. While the #petals are just as #vibrant, it is a completely different experience! #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #solitary #orange #daylily

A picture of a single bright orange daylily blooming to the right. The stamen are clearly visible and pointing out with the orange petals. The petals have some wine dark stripes from the center with yellow and white near the main petal stem. The flower has many closed buds around it and a grey vertical fence behind it, disappearing into the shadows. There are blurry green stems and leaves below the flower. The flower itself is completely shaded but still a vibrant color.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 17/07/2026

This deep #saturation and vibrant #hue are a strong way to start #foliagefriday. The petals on this wood #lily look as waxy as the leaves. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #magenta

A picture of a vibrant magenta wood lily. All 6 petals are open and taught. The richness of color does not dissipate through the petal. The flower sits in front of another open flower facing to the right And some other flowers of varying maturity. There is a dark purple flower in the top of the frame very out of focus. The flowers are on a bed of very green waxy leaves. Most all of the leaves are out of focus.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Last post for this #foliagefriday, so let's #yarrow! A neighbor has the most cultured garden designed to #bloom the whole summer season and these pink clouds are just the latest I've showcased. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #pink #deeppink #garden #planned

A picture of small clusters of blooming yarrows. The flowers are all extremely small and clustered together looking like deep pink clouds above a variegated green bed. The clusters cover almost the entire frame with flower count in the hundreds. There is a very light pink center in each flower as the petal pink is a very deep hue. There are some yellow flowers and bushes bleeding through in the top right corner of the frame.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Third today for #foliagefriday - There is nothing like the inside of a water beaded #trumpet. So very refreshing! #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #red #orange #petals #wet #macro

A very close up shot of the inside of a blooming trumpet vine. Perfect for attracting hummingbirds they have a long body we cannot see. This is because we are looking directly at the face of the flower giving the illusion of shallowness. The petals are a light red and change to orange at the center. There are visible dark veins in the petals radiating from the center out to the tips. The flower is covered in water beads all the way inside. There is some green foliage around the edges of the picture but only slightly visible. The flower extends beyond the boundaries if the frame.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Next let's take #foliagefriday down low and peep this forest of plantain lilies. There's gotta be at least 17 flowers in this jungle. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #pink #pastel #lily #plantainlily #cluster #bloom #bellflowers

A high contrast picture of pastel pink lilies drooping like bellflowers. These lilies are plantain lilies so they have bloomed in clusters up the stalk instead of at the tip. There are dozens of flowers in the picture all at varying stages of bloom. The leaves for the plant blanket the bottom of the picture and are ribbed. Not all of the flowers are in focus, lending a degree of depth to the picture.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Let's start #foliagefriday with some Sun... Flower! Not one of the giants this flower is small enough to make our bumble bro look mighty large. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #sunflower #bloom #yellow #petals #pollen #bee #bumblebee #bumblebro

A direct picture of a small sunflower pointed at the camera. The flower is in the center of the picture and the petals reach the sides. There are other flowers barely visible behind the major one facing other directions. On the center of the flower is a bumblebee rooting around for pollen.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

My second picture for this #foliagefriday is a gorgeous #fuchsia #peony. The colors are just so vibrant! #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #pink

A picture of a blooming peony. It takes up most of the center of the picture and is facing up to the left. There are dozens of bright fuchsia petals around the bright yellow stamen. There are a couple of bulbs that have yet to bloom below it. The bush, even further below sits in front of a fence trailing into the distance. You can see some sidewalk and lawn as well.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 03/07/2026

It's been a tough week but it is once again time for #foliagefriday. Let's start the morning with a golden #shrimpplant. I like the #scalloped sides, but it doesn't look prawny to me... #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #bloom #tower #yellow #golden #shramp

A picture of a vertically blooming flower. The flower itself is four sided. Each side has petals blooming above the lower set for a total of 4 petals tall with some tiny ones growing at the top. Near the top of the bloom are three or four white pistols pointing in various directions to help attract pollinators. Below this flower is another tiny bloom just starting out. They sit on a bed of waxy green leaves with other plants out of focus behind them.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 27/06/2026

For a third #foliagefriday picture I present these vibrant bull thistle. Everything may be #BiggerInTexas but the grass is much #GreenerInMinnesota. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #purple #bloom #green #spine #bullthistle #thistle

A very close picture of a blooming thistle. The thistle is angled from the center of the picture to the right side. There are dozens of bright green thorns visible on the bulb of the thistle as well as from the others in the picture. The bloom is dozens of purple strands reaching from the bulb. There is another bloom very out of focus behind the main bulb to the upper left. The background is a very blurry brick wall.
The picture overall is not very in focus, but doesn't look overly blurry.

Michael C @avech.bsky.social · 26/06/2026

This second picture for #foliagefriday is this #mesmerizing stalk of #blooming #bellflowers. They are helping to #pollinate our garden! #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #purple #bloom #blooms

A picture of a stalk of hanging flowers. The flower stalk stretches from the bottom right to the top left blurring out of focus in the corner. The purple flowers are hanging down from the stalk through the center of the picture with lots of flowers near the bottom above the bed of leaves. These flowers are in focus. The background is the side of a house with the stone wall being covered by wood shingles part way up.

A picture of several plants growing indoors next to a window. The window is the upper left portion of the picture and you can see a wooden gate in the distance outside. There are plants growing from red rings sitting inside the side of a modified litter container. The window goes low to the floor as the container is on the floor. There is another plant in the same situation living in a mason jar on the window sill among the leaves of the lower plants. There are some bags of potatoes behind the container.

A picture of two tree saplings sitting on a counter. The sapling on the left is much larger and sitting in a flat tray with rocks in it. The right sapling is very small but perky, sitting in a red foam collar on a mason jar with rocks and visible liquid. Both saplings have very vibrant green leaves of various sizes.

Quite a few less #blooms in this post. Have a beautiful #redclover this #foliagefriday. A few of these guys have bloomed in our front yard. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #solo #pink #purple #green #contrast

A picture of a single flower in bloom. The entire picture is a blurry sea of leaves with a purple fleck here and there. A single stem stretches up across the picture to the top left where the flower has bloomed. The bloom is several dozen small pink purple flowers all together on the tip. They all radiate from the tip of the stalk up and out.

I'm slow on the output this #foliagefriday. So I'll start with a BANG! An update to the #HmongTownMarket #Chinarose #blooming. The #Bumblebees are Loving it!. #nature #photography #naturephotography #flower #flowers #pink #bloom #blossom

A picture of several large blooming flower bushes. The bushes stretch from the bottom to the top of the photograph. The flower bushes make a deep indent near the top of the picture. Behind them is a shingled building. The flowers cover a majority of the bushes and are blooming in bright pink clusters. The clusters vary in size from one or two flowers to up to 10-12.

A portrait of some pink roses. There are a few roses at the bottom of the picture that are in focus as well as shaded. The further up we go the less in focus the picture is. There is a large cluster of blooms in the middle on the left side and a very out of focus branch reaching past the top of the picture.

A cluster of bright pink roses. The rose bunch is set just left of center blooming from the left edge approximately 70% of the picture. The remaining portion is another blooming cluster of roses further back. They are a bit out of focus.

A very close up picture of a bumblebee climbing along the stamen of a flower. The flower petals are a bright pink which contrasts with the yellow and black of the bee. Except for a small portion in the bottom right, the whole picture is inside the flower.

Today is a day for #naps #catnap #cat #cats #lazy #sleepy #precious #babies #bigstretch #belly #circle #toebeans

A picture of a striped grey cat lounging on a large grey chair. The cat is stretched along the center crease of the chair. Her outstretched paws are in the bottom left corner of the frame and her body reaches up to the top right where her head is. Her front legs are relaxed in front of her torso along the right edge of the picture. There is a fuzzy white blanket draped down the tip left of the picture and the chair. The belly is exposed.

A picture of a white cat sleeping in a ball. The cat has grey and black stripes along its tail and some coloring near its ear. The cat is sleeping in a round cat bed colored dark grey with a darker linework as a pattern. Her head is at 12:00 o'clock, the top, with the right ear exposed and her body is encircled counterclockwise. All of her paws are settled together at roughly 2:40. Some beans are visible.
