I guess not unrelated to EVERYTHING else on the list.

21. Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures . . . have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful.

22. We must resist the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism. We, in America and more broadly the West, have for the past half century resisted defining national cultures in the name of inclusivity. But inclusion into what?

The position that we were too hard on the Nazis is both seemingly unrelated to anything else on this list and also weirdly on the nose.

15. The postwar neutering of Germany and Japan must be undone. The defanging of Germany was an overcorrection for which Europe is now paying a heavy price. A similar and highly theatrical commitment to Japanese pacifism will, if maintained, also threaten to shift the balance of power in Asia.

I wasn’t sure if it was funny, but Musk assures us it’s funny.

A quote from Elon Mush that reads, “In principle, it is capable of emulating the function of entire companies. That is why the program is called MACROHARD, a funny reference to Microsoft.”

I saw Dorthea Tanning’s “Birthday” on my birthday and went home and wrote a poem about it.

Dorthea Tanning’s “Birthday,” a self portrait of a white woman, topless in a purple and gold jacket and black skirt, layered with roots. Her feet are bare, and she is facing the viewer with a solemn expression. Her hand is opening a door, and she appears to be in a hall of countless open doors. At her feet is a winged, cat-like creature.

This is literally just some Francis Galton eugenics shit.

I would love to know what happens in this stage adaptation of Frankenstein

A playbill for a stage adaptation of Frankenstein, featuring a young man posed seductively on a table while another man approaches him with a sword. The play is by R.B. Peake.

There’s a lot to hate here, but this supremely bad take on Joe Rogan is perhaps the deepest low point.

Text that reads “The Joe Rogan Experience” could be understood as a couple of guys around a campfire, passing on knowledge through conversation, like the ancient Greeks.”

There’s a lot of shit to talk about Curtis Yarvin being featured in the New Yorker, but what the hell is this pose

Photo of Curtis Yarvin facing left with his left arm extended and resting on a table. His body is twisting back with his right arm behind him. He’s in front of a dark blue curtain and wearing jeans and a wrinkly shirt. He looks stupid.

My dog, posing for his statue

A black long hair chihuahua with a white chest and snout is sitting on top of a patio table at an angle, facing the right and looking off camera wistfully. A wooden fence is behind him.

Tupelo Press’ response to new NEA restrictions is inspiring and should serve as an industry standard. @tupelopress.bsky.social

Screenshot of Tupelo Press’ statement reading, “For 25 years, Tupelo Press has been devoted to widening the audience for contemporary poetry and literary prose by emerging and established writers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, including, especially, women and writers of color, the LGBTQ, immigrant, and Native American communities. We aim to develop wider audiences for, and deeper understanding of, innovative, multi-cultural writing by essential participants in this conversation.

If our position means no more NEA grants for Tupelo Press, so be it. To act otherwise would be immoral.”
