Of the dozens of brands sold in the United States and presented to consumers in our last survey, we learned current EV owners purchase the most replacement tires from these manufacturers. Interestingly, only 6 sell a dedicated EV tire or one specifically marketed as being compatible for EV use.

While EV owners and owners of gas, hybrids, and other powertrains do indeed share similar tire shopping behaviors...there are a few key differences we're discovering as we zoom in on some of the data. Take the median cost spent on a single replacement tire, for example:

Canada is getting Chinese EVs soon, with Chery and Geely shipping now. Our latest research shows that with slightly higher acceptance than U.S. new vehicle shoppers, 55% of Canadian new vehicle shoppers will consider buying/leasing a Chinese brand vehicle when they do finally become available.

Our sales forecasting team is predicting a slip dip in U.S. light vehicle sales for 2026, sliding from 16.3 million units in 2025 to 15.9 million units this year. Following this projected drop, AutoPacific expects volume recovery through the remainder of the decade and into the next.

Everyone has "must-have" and "nice to have" features when it comes to vehicle shopping. The top "must-have" feature for 2025 is all wheel drive with 63% of all respondents who want the feature saying they won't buy a vehicle without it.

A new report just out from @autopacific.bsky.social looks at what shoppers want from the vanishing set of $25K to $35K vehicles. Only about 5% intend to buy an #EV. BUT: When asked if they would ever CONSIDER buying an EV in the future, 49% said “Yes” + fully 70% said they were familiar with EVs.
