I give a lot of grace to disabled artists; and usually they give me the most updates/ check-ins. I also give a lot of grace to people who have a job outside of commissions... its rough out here but I do also ask about my commission or if there is anything they need more from me

Someone just reblogged this on tumblr with this tag and I just fucking died I've been on this shit for over a decade and it's only getting worse

written about this before but whatever.

Videogames as an artform have a problem with nostalgia. Not that people shouldn’t have nostalgia. Or that games shouldn’t draw from the past. But instead the weight we give to nostalgia.

When people go back to enjoy old games, we assume it’s a nostalgia thing. Do people assume that with books? Or movies? Or music? People certainly do go back in time with those mediums for nostalgia! It happens! I know when my sister is listening to certain cheesy old boyband pop or punk she’s often having a musical nostalgia trip! That’s cool! But we still don’t ASSUME, CONSTANTLY thats why people go back to stuff.

People like old stuff because it’s cool and interesting. It’s historic. People go watch Metropolis still, but how many people alive could even be nostalgic for a movie like that?

I almost want to see the word Nostalgia excised from discussions about video games – not because nostalgia is bad but because we over use it to the point where it’s actually harmful I think.

I mean I made IWBTG and am making an NES style game right now and even for me, the obsession with ‘nostalgia’ seems crazy.

Old stuff is cool. I know this because I see a lot of you kids on my tumblr feed talking about games I know you didn’t grow up with. It’s like finding your parents record or CD collection. Thinking the primary greatness of old games is bringing back memories of eating cereal and playing games on a saturday morning is a great injustice, even if those memories for some are perfectly worthwhile things.

#this post is 11 years old and still holds true

More #OC-tober art! The prompt I used was “draw your OC in a different art style” This was a hybrid traditional-digital piece; I used pencil for the black lines and then scanned it in to color digitally!

illustration of a gloomy-looking man using a pair of scissors to snip a red thread, which leads off the screen in front of him and winds into an abstract tangle at the bottom of the image. He has shoulder-length dark hair that is falling as if being cut, leaving a short hairstyle visible. Aside from the thread, the image is drawn in desaturated browns and grays, and there are lineless white butterfly shapes in the background.

They favour General Avlora. Who can resist a big, strong woman with long, flowing hair and her honour as her compass? He's illustrated one of the other contributor's story, something he is more than fit to do, seeing as he has a talent for creating art that speaks volumes. #trianglestrategy

three artworks of general avlora from triangle strategy. one official and two not, in the icon in a triangular-ish frame with scales as detailing on the corners. the text reads Spring in blue and calls them an artist as well as listing the pronouns as any

this month I'll be doing some art prompts for #OC-tober! There won't be one every day since I'm super busy with school, also I'm trying to get back into doing more fanart, but I do love participating in art challenges :3
