@autismcrisis.bsky.social According to our calculations, this is your 15,000th post across Twitter/X and Bluesky. Over 15 years of sustained engagement with autism research and thousands of scientific publications discussed along the way. bsky.app/profile/auti...

8/8 Twitter/X data cover 10 Oct 2009 to 12 Oct 2023. Bluesky data cover 13 Oct 2023 to the present. Current processing prioritizes Bluesky because its open API supports more regular and reproducible synchronization.

7/8 The tool can therefore support many kinds of analyses: which publications are discussed, which authors or journals recur, how particular topics evolve over time, and how specific areas of autism research are cited, questioned or debated.
100
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 11/09/2026
6/8 Searches can also start from the scientific literature: enter an author, words from a title or abstract, a journal/source or publication years to find the corresponding posts and examine how particular studies or authors were discussed.
100
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 11/09/2026
5/8 For example, searching for “ABA” can identify posts discussing ABA while restricting results to posts linked to structured scientific references. This makes it possible to explore how a specific research topic has been discussed across many years.
100
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 11/09/2026
4/8 The central feature is cross-search: post text, quotations, questions, dates and platform can be combined with reference-level filters such as title, abstract, author, journal/source, publication year and autism-related terms.
100
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 11/09/2026
3/8 From links appearing in these posts, AutiHub has identified 9,080 structured scientific references (DOIs) or study registration records, allowing searches to connect posts with the scientific publications and registered studies being discussed.

Autihub.org @autihub.org · 11/09/2026
2/8 The tool covers more than 15 years of public engagement with autism research. Michelle Dawson has discussed and critically engaged with more than 10,000 scientific publications, providing an unusually large corpus for studying scientific debates over time.

It would also be interesting to know whether the tool is sensitive to the evaluator’s neurotype.

The very notion of “automatic reinforcement” is not a neutral concept; it is a conceptual metaphor that would benefit from investigation through historical epistemology. (It is worth revisiting some of Esquirol’s descriptions of “idiots,” for instance as “automata.”)

2/2 At the same time, as participation grows, it will become increasingly important to study empirically whether, how, and under what conditions it influences the quality, relevance, and outcomes of autism research. This should be an empirical question, not an ideological one.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 22/07/2026
1/2 I fully support increasing the participation of autistic people in autism research. That is a positive development in itself.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 20/07/2026
@autismcrisis.bsky.social I understand your point, but how can autistic participation in research be evaluated if studies are not encouraged to report it? There may be an important distinction between reporting community involvement and requiring individual authors to disclose a diagnosis.
010
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 20/07/2026
"a lot of autistic contributions (e.g. mine) get graded poorly, disparaged as non-meaningful, non-genuine, etc" Would you be willing to be more specific? This is a very important point. At the same time, we still lack adequate tools for evaluating autistic people’s participation in autism research.
001
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 18/07/2026
“When the source of communication cannot be independently verified, there is a risk that individuals are, in effect, spoken for rather than speaking for themselves.” A principle that might be applied to researchers making recommendations about autistic people without involving them in the research.

7/7 If you have concerns, preferences, or conditions about this project, I would very much welcome them. The aim is to help make an important part of autism research history accessible and usable in a responsible way for the community.

Autihub.org @autihub.org · 13/07/2026
6/7 Those reconstructed destination URLs would support search and analysis, but the raw archive of posts and URLs would not be exposed as a downloadable dataset. The intention is to build a careful public tool, not to extract your work from its original context.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 13/07/2026
5/7 We are also trying to preserve the destination URLs behind links included in the posts, when this is still technically possible. Many old short links or redirected pages are already dead or uncertain, so this is partly a preservation effort.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 13/07/2026
4/7 The post texts are integrated into a database so that people can search across them by words, dates, questions, quotations, and related markers. Public reading would rely, whenever possible, on official embeds or links back to the original platforms.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 13/07/2026
3/7 Using the X API, we were able to retrieve public posts from your Twitter/X archive, and we also use the open Bluesky API for your current public posts. The goal is NOT to republish your posts as a downloadable archive.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 13/07/2026
2/7 As part of a project planned for September, developed as an evolution and extension of Autidacts.org, we have been working on a tool to make your public posts easier to search, contextualize, and use for the autism community and research-related discussion.

At the moment, there are 37 articles ahead-of-print in Autism in Adulthood, of which 1 (2.7%) is open access, 2 (5.4%) are temporarily free, and 34 (91.9%) are paywalled at $51 each https://t.co/hEY9l...

“The [EURORDIS] award was granted in recognition of the commitment of AIMS-2-TRIALS leaders to involving autistic people [...] as equal partners in this initiative.” “Equal partners.” Assertions are not evidence. This should be studied empirically. www.aims-2-trials.eu/2026/03/10/r...

5/6 First task: verify whether each publication explicitly reports AIMS-2-TRIALS support (quick, form-based). Even limited help would be fantastic — tracing autistic participation across ~350 studies is a collective effort, and your contribution moves us forward. Discord: discord.gg/3NhpBrxm

5/6 With ~€115M total funding (incl. ~€55M from the EU) and hundreds of papers, plus a stated commitment to involving autistic people and carers across the project, it’s ideal for examining how participation is described and reported.

4/6 We apply the framework to peer-reviewed outputs that acknowledge AIMS-2-TRIALS funding. Launched 2018–2026, it’s a large European biomedical programme uniting multiple groups to study autism across the lifespan.

"This suggests that camouflaging is not always responsive to the mechanisms targeted in traditional CBT and emphasizes the importance of contextual, identity-affirming approaches in intervention design." So why persist in applying traditional CBT to autistic people?

4/5 Of course, this analysis is based on what is reported in the studies. But given how little information is publicly available about the actual participation of autistic people in the consortium, it's probably better than nothing.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 24/05/2025
3/5 Rather than relying on institutional branding, this project aims to ground evaluation in actual evidence of co-production and participation.
110
Autihub.org @autihub.org · 24/05/2025
2/5 The focus will be on identifying concrete indicators of participation within the studies — to assess whether claims that autistic individuals are “equal partners” in AIMS-2-TRIALS (Loth 2023, doi:10.3389/fpsyt.2023.1085445) hold up under scrutiny.
