I hate when people gang on stories or try to cancel them because they don’t fit their idea of what narratives should be or the story doesn’t fit in a neat black and white box. Stories should be nuanced, should be gray and spark conversations. Some life stories are messy, and that’s OK

#writesky I usually start to edit when I have significant portion of the chapters done. I’ll do a read-through and check everything out, mostly because I am in a slump, otherwise. And usually re-reading and editing helps me get out of that slump.

I even have a fun YA novel I am working on that features a FMC who loves vocab and uses obscure words but I decided to add footnotes and give funny definitions to explain them so the story still flows and it’s not totally lost on people. So, I get my cake and eat it too :)

Authors can use whatever words they want. Readers have access to the internet and free dictionaries they can use. Plus context clues and anything else the author gives you. It will not kill you to think for once

The “use easier words” thing infuriates me. It ha snothing to do with ableism. As an autistic kid, I had a hyperfixation in vocab and etymology. I knew ALL the words and had a stronger vocab than all other kids my age, while also being disabled!

I am totally amazed by Louise by Charpentier. I read it to practice French but dang is it ahead of its time! A 1900 epic about a woman escaping her abusive parents & finding freedom in love & her own self-worth as an adult. I’m so tempted to rewrite it with queer themes…

I also hope to use audio software and a better microphone for the revised episodes. The only struggle is re-learning how to do all the voices after Testosterone 😅 But I’ve been practicing! The only difference is I used to be able to scream all the time, but T voice gets tired when I do that now

It’s hard to revise something that wasn’t written down and was instead audio recorded, but seeing it all in scripted form makes everything so much easier and of course makes it must faster to revise! The new episodes will be read from the new scripts, so it will be much cleaner!

The process of revising and rewriting episodes has been quite grueling, as I have to listen to my stupid old voice and horrible improv on full volume headphones because the sound quality is horrible. And typing it all verbatim so I can fix it all! But progress is going well
