It's lovely how Le Monde is downplaying the influence of US in these results even with Trump being very vocal about it. Now imagine what Brazilians endured when US had a smarter government.

With the relentless support of all US social media and billionaires, all Brazilian media which works as US voice (born as it is under US dictatorship) and direct influence of US in every aspect. Yeah... Its impossible to reach people when US censors and persecute the opposition.

Few privileged will be able to leave to some "1st world" option, they will be looking for BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS but you will just call them "economical migrant" - Places under US influence never have "problems", any violence they survived will be watered down "it cant be haha, BR is a nice country!"

Your country will KEEP INFLUENCING ELECTIONS here and making sure that always its best puppet gets the place, who you vote for in US just changes the political aspects of this politician. We are strategical country for US survival as a world potency. WE PAY FOR IT -WITH OUR LIVES- And you KNOW that.

But you wont bother, because you're not being negatively affected by it, your govt keep you ignorant about its crimes in other lands, and you will blame us for what YOUR government imposed to us. Just like you always do, you will only look forward to what your govern merchandise for you as "bad".

Next time US elects a politician with 2 functional brain cells, they will relish in the destruction Trump did in LATAM, they will give some scraps for ppl so you can feel living in a better economy, you will believe it was because of your choices. In truth, the cost was OUR LIVES, OUR DESTRUCTION.

Are you f*king kidding me? Your country is influencing Brazilian politics in EVERY ASPECT since Trump's election and THAT'S WHAT YOU SAY? So should all LATAM hate US people because we're paying WITH OUR LIVES for YOUR choices? You just pretended it was not your problem as all "1st world" does!

"He had thrown a dice and as usual, it had come up snake eyes" We have a description of Astarion failing a dice roll, and yet the gang didn't understand what happened at the point to insist that Astarion had choice.

BG3 tries to follow 5e rules which doesn't includes gaseous form under Vamp spawn set of available skills, though it can be found in older versions like 3.5e.

Another curiosity about Cazador is that according to what we see in #BG3, it's implied that he can give specific powers to his spawns in case of need. #Astarion is surprised by the new powers of his brothers when they turn into mist.

I can see he just tossing the newly made spawn there and forgetting they ever existed. Did it survive? Did it die? Well he might take a look at it at his will. Considering that by the end of #BG3 he has more than 7K spawns, we can conclude that rules limiting spawn creation are not applied to Cazy

Tourmaline depths was discovered by Donatela Szarr, a vampire before Vellioth - master of Cazador. If there is something #Cazador would not bother with, it is what to do about the spawns he created after feeding - excluding the 7 spawns he considered his Family/offspring - with a prison that huge,

"I lie to my offspring, it's really that simple. A new fledgling knows little about the world, about itself...." / "so I tell my offspring that their existence if inextricably linked with mine."... "If I am destroyed, then so are you". - Van Richten's Guide to Vampires.

Have you noticed how #Astarion is surprised when he discovered that Cazador has kept his victims as spawns? If the player knows vampires, they know spawns can be created accidentally, it's common for inexperienced vamps. Vamps tend to keep their spawns ignorant about vampirism for safety reasons.

Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
When the player reaches cazador's dungeon, he will meet several victims of #Astarion, the one who most call the attention are the Gur children, which were kidnapped in a very short time (WEEKS/MONTHS) before the events of the game. Now take a look on what's going on with their memories
Player: Are you the kids from the Gur camp?
Chessa: The Gur camp, the Gur camp... Maybe? Yes, I think so.
Dev notes: The Gur camp is precisely where they'ree from, but they've half-forgotten now that they're vampire spawn. She's thinking about it, and it's stirs a memory, but it's foggy.
110
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
In #BG3, #Astarion is clear that he can't remember much of his past, in a camp scene the player can ask what color his eyes were before they turned red, he says he doesn't remember. It's the first moment the game warns about the extent of a spawn's loss of memories, later we get a better glimpse.

A good example of how bad it is can be seen in "Vampires of the Mists". Jander, despairing at the imminent death of his "loved one", tries to force her into the vampire bride process, he drinks her dry and she refuses to drink Jander's blood afterwards, failing the process (he destroys her body)
Jander had tried to make Anna his mate, but she would not drink his blood. When she rose in a few nights as an undead, she would be only a weak, servile vampire: his slave. That was all she would ever be, for all eternity, for slaves could never become true individuals while their maker existed.
131
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Turning into a vamp spawn is bad ending, you're not just enslaved body/mind by a vampire, your old self ceases to exist, your personality is gone, your memories are erased & altered and you're now made to fit whatever role your master wanted for you which often has evil intent.
120
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Again from Libri Mortis - one of the most complete source for DnD undead IMO - we can get even more about imprinting.
Plaintly, the choice to be compassionate is not something most intelligent undead consider. In many cases, the event that animated a particular undead is such a transformative experience that it imprints the new undead its image. And in almost every case, that event is generated from an evil impulse of action.Unlike with most of other undead creatures, every vampire spawn is the creation of a true vampire. In some cases, entire societies or cultures of vampire spawn exist in the shadows of normal civilization, hewing to their own arcane rules or behavior, often set down by one or more original "procreators" of the culture.

During BG3 it's clear to the player that Astarion's compulsion is sex. After being free from Cazador influence due the presence of the parasite, he is able to rationalize what was going on and he tells the player the following
Astarion: The entire reason for my existence was to seduce anything with a pulse. And every instinct I have tells me that nothing's changed. That I'm still just a means to an end. You made me see I never stopped thinking like I was still his slave, even in freedom.
120
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
this imprinting will result in COMPULSION (Pay attention to that in #Astarion book ;) )
Some undead that retain corporeal bodes and can create spawn (most notably vampires) retain strong tie to the associations of their life. As such, they might continue to nurture real affection for individuals still living. Tortured by the thought of losing contact with a friend or loved one, the undead may seek out that individual, out of love, may attempt to turn its beloved into a spawn. If the attempt is succesfull, the loved one joins the ranks of the undead, but the bond between the two of them is not artificially enforced by the nature of the creation. The "loved one" now exist in a horrible position of compulsory affection.

retain some parts of their memories, emotions and beliefs. Those remaining memories will be twisted by vampirism. It's heavily implied that the vampire master can proceed with some kind of imprinting on their minions be that rationally - to make sure they will work as intended - or accidentally.
120
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Let's talk a bit about memories: Generally unless the vampire proceeds with the process of making a bride/groom, the fledgling (newly formed full vampire, but it's a deprecated concept) or spawn can retain no memories of their past other than the moment of their death and rebirth, or they can...

Leon
Leon: What's happening? Where's the master?
(end)
Leon: Can't think... Cant get rid of his voice...
(end)
Leon: My head is spinning. I can't believe you did this. What's going to happen to us... are you going to end us like you ended Cazador?
Player (opt 1): You're free to go
Leon: We are...free? But where will we go? How will we feed?
Player (opt 1.1 and 1.2): That's up to you - or - You can go wherever you want, a slong as you don't harm the innocent
Leon: Then we will go, not to the surface, we have hunted and been hunted there too long.
Leon: But the Underdark? Perhaps there is a home for us there.
Leon: Thank you, You will not see us again.
Player (opt 1.3): I didn't think about that. I'm afraid I cant let you go after all.
Leon: No wait! We will leave this place, this city. You will never see us again.
Leon: Baldurs Gate has been our prison, but we could go to the Underdark. Perhaps that could be a home.
Leon: we will descend into the underdark. We will find a place of our own, as your people once did.
Player: The Underdark. Absolute not / Attack the vampire spawn
Leon: We will find a home. And we will kill anyone in our way. / This time I'll fight fr my freedom. I'm not going down that easily!
(end)
Player: Be a wolf among sheep. Travel from peaceful village to peaceful village.
Leon: You're right. That's good advice. Thank you.
(end)

Player (opt 2): That depends. What will you do if I let you go?
Leon: I don't know. We'll need a place to feed. Where can we go?
(return to opt 1 answers)

Petras (I will consider later if it's worth put Leon, because it's long and he is not in the book)
Petras: Where is he? What have you done?
(end)
Petras: You did it. You destroyed him.
Petras: What - what happens now?
Petras: Are you going to kill us like you killed the others?
Player (opt 1.1): No, you're free to go.
Petras: Easy to say, but it's not like we can just march out into the city
Petras: We're creatures of the shadows. I'm sure you know that feeling well (if player is from Underdark race - if not the last part changes to) Nothing can change that.
Player ( If from underdark race): Why not embrace the dark? You could make a true home in the Underdark.
Petras: True, we'd never have to fear the sun. Never have to fear vampire hunters.
Petras: We could to worse, we could do well, even.
Petras: Thank you for this chance. For our freedom
(end)
Player: Do what you like, you're not my problem.
Petras: We're not, but thank you all the same. You didn't have to do any of this.
Petras; we'll find somewhere quiet and consider out options. Good luck up there.
(end)
Player: Maybe I should kill you after all..
Petras: You said I was free! You said I could go!
(end)

Player (opt 1.2): That depends. Are you going to start feeding on people?
Petras: I'm sure I can resist. I've survived this long on vermin, after all.
Petras: We can't stay here, though. Baldur's Gate will always have Cazador's shadow hanging over it.
Player can ask about going to underdark which repeats the (underdark) node
(end)
Player (opt 2): You're free, so... what do you want to happen?
Petras: I... I dont know. We can't stay here, but we can't just march out into city either
(repeats)
(end)

Petras: I've never seen him bleed before. I didn't know it was possible.

So let's start with the reaction of every vampire spawn soon after they be freed from Cazador's influence, it gives you the magnitude of how deep and cruel is the influence of a vampire master over his spawns (and readers of the book will be pretty shocked with one spawn in particular ;)).
Violet: Cazador is dust, and Violet blooms! I shall live as a permanent rebuke to all that monster stood for!
Violet: Praise Kelemvor! I died thousand times, yet somehow, I live!
Violet: Cazador dead, and I live! I'm giddy, I'm giddy with glee!Yousen: Am I alive? I'm alive! Hahahaha! But oh, oh oh, for how long:
Yousen: Cazador dead. I was his slave for only 60 years, but it seems like an eternity.
Yousen: Agh! I feel like I gargled a straight razor. But to feel anything is wonderful - wonderful!Dalyria: I cannot believe it's over. I cannot believe we're free
Dalyria: We are free aren't we? We will not bother you at the surface, you have my word on that
Dalyria: We will find a place in the Underdark. We will find a new way to live, new creatures do feed on, and you will never see us again.
Player (opt 1) - Of course you're free. Good luck down there.
Dalyria: My thanks. For everything.

Player (opt 2) - I can't let you go - you're too dangerous
Dalyria: Perhaps you're right. Perhaps we're dangerous.
(end)

Dalyria: Is he resting? Will the master raise again:

Dalyria: What's happening: Where's the master?
Aurelia: He.. he is destroyed. Cazador. Gone! How were you able to do this?
Aurelia: Look at us - we are no treat. Let us go, we'll vanish into the Undercity, you'll never see us again. I beg you!

Player opt 1 - You're a victims. You may go;
Aurelia: You won't regret this! I swear it.

Player opt 2 - Beg for your freedom, lowly spawn.
Aurelia: Please... master? May I call you master? All, any of us who survive, we'll disappear now. You'll never see us again.
Player opt 3 - attack
(end interaction with player)

New interaction:
Aurelia: My head... Do I know you: Why are you features a smear across your face?

Aurelia: The master is dead. I can't come to grips with it. Now what/ What now?

That being said I'd like to use this topic to -slowly- add some interesting information from BG3 game and older WoTC books. There will be NO spoilers here from the Astarion book, but there will be from older WoTC books and BG3.
130
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Regardless, everything published under WoTC logo is canon, and if there are contradictions then the newer information is taken as canon - of course you can always pick the version you most like.
130
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
This, together with "following the ruleset of that time", is the root of many plotholes and contradictions. Tragic things might happen in an older book, which wouldn't happen if the same book was written under the current ruleset, for example.
140
Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
WoTC books often use the "trust the reader" mindset, which might end up requiring the reader to search for monsters and skills in their tabletop sources. Every book follows the ruleset valid for the release year. FR is HUGE and uses many different authors to write their books (Novel, tabletop, etc).

Today is the official release date for the #Astarion book, there is a hate campaign happening on some social media driven by a pretty small but very vocal group. Some of their complaints have an interesting source, but some of them (unfortunately) comes from literacy struggles.

We do get a good idea about it in the game, I mean, he is very clear about it. But reading he dealing with it, vampirism taking it's tool and he coping is something else entirely. Also the way you ended connecting his memories with the present felt like taking a punch.

Antarctica means no bears! @australwind.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I always romance him and (in most of my runs) keep him spawn so we can go for a truly happy ending. I don't consider a "good ending" if I can't guarantee that he is happy either. But Gods, reading him coping with his situation, and realizing the extension of what Cazador did to him just broke me.
