Just finished Big Walk tonight! It's 100% my game of the year so far. Very clever design throughout the whole game, stays strong with its puzzles, all the way through to the end. Just a complete joy to interact with anything in this game. Very much worth your time!

Super Mario 64 The frustrations of the camera and the controls, the way half of the levels just look like tech demos, and the increasing amount of insta-death pits - it all adds up to a miserable time. Though revolutionary when released, it doesn't hold up. And yet Banjo-Kazooie still does.

I do think about the monologue in context from time to time, and I agree. Once you strip away the outer layer of comedy, what's left is haunting, almost upsetting. Obviously the man's unwell, but he was never well to begin with.

The first time the tester has the character catch on fire, there is usually some panic in their movements. But since it's introduced after the player has a good understanding of the base mechanics, their nerves steady surprisingly quickly around the fire.

Thank you! We're aiming for something less punishing than usual. Yes, the body normally stays usable and doesn't decay. If you were on fire though, the body will burn up and disappear after a short while. There's some variety in the different ways to die that switch up the rules.

Been thinking about Hadestown since I saw it on Friday. Absolutely loved it, it's as much about the story told, as it is about the importance of why we tell stories. In our current cultural moment, where this reason is heavily obscured, it was a lovely reminder for me.

Creating lore is quickly becoming my favourite form of writing. Getting to expand on the world in a way that's only somewhat related to the plot is such a joy. If it's for the plot, then it solves a problem. But lore gets to exist outside of that need. And I love it for that! #lore #gameDev
