Javan Whistling-Thrush 1/2 Seen backlit these can look rather blackish and dull, but when seen well the colour shines and a wonderful deep blue is revealed. Only found in montane forests of Java and Bali. Java, Sept 26 #birds #birding #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #birdsseenin2026

I had never witnessed this before - a fledgling cardinal being fed by a parent under my lilac bushes a few days ago I didn't even know there was a nest nearby. It must be well camouflaged #birds #cardinals #Wisconsin #wildlife #nature

Hummingbirds’ heart beats up 1260 times a minute when flying, and drops to 40-50 per minute during cold winter nights to save energy. Here are some of my favorite captures with my camera. #bird #birding #hummingbird #birdphotography

An Anna’s hummingbird with wings spread in the middle of the sky, his beak slightly open, trying to catch little insects flying near.

An Anna’s hummingbird with a full face of black feathers, a very green back, and a mix of green and white feathers in the chest, sits on top of a branch with a single wilting leaf that resembles a large feather.

An Anna’s Hummingbird puffed up so it looks a bit chubby, sits on top of a branch and looking ahead. It has black feathers on its face and glittery green feathers on its back and chest, and white and gray feathers underneath the top feathers.

We were out for a walk this morning, and I took a couple shots of this single yellow flower sticking up in the field, and then my shot was photobombed by this ruby-throated hummingbird! #hummingbird #naturephotography #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #flowerphotography #photography

Several dead flowers on stems splitting from a single stem at the bottom of the frame. At the top a single yellow flower with narrow petals. A hummingbird hovering in front of the flower, probing the flower with its long, narrow beak. It's tail, back, and head have green feathers, but the belly and throat are white. The wings are blurry from motion, but extending back behind the bird. The background is very blurry, with a mixture of darker green, lighter green, and yellow or white.

Police and federals were so hard up to find crime that they were seen arresting people for broken tail lights and seatbelt violations. Oh my God! It's an emergency!

News site Common Dreams reports that police and federal agents are pulling people over for seat-belt violations and broken tail lights. Oh my God, It's an EMERGENCY! A broken tail light! It would make a hilarious satire if it wasn't happening in real life.

Someone needs to make a series of compelling and entertaining Tik Tok videos elucidating and demonstrating exactly what the scientific method is and how it works. Which is why people should believe in science, including in medicine.

I've been thinking today that the best public service anyone could perform would be to somehow communicate to the public exactly what the scientific method is and how it works. Of course, these days it would have to be done in a way that is entertaining for social and other media. TikTok video size

Yes to joy! Also, I've been addicted to cherries this summer, knowing the season is short. I would add that another healthy response is empathy. I think how fortunate I am to have abundant food in contrast to our fellow beings in Gaza and Sudan.

So we have being arrested (or worse) for driving while Black, walking while Black, etc. Now we have calls to arrest Obama for being President while Black--which is what Trump really can't stand, going back to his "birther" scam.

The prairie dog has good survival skills. The kids--not so much. Please don't feed wildlife for their sake and yours. (One example I saw was someone who fed an alligator that hung out in the canal behind our neighborhood.)

Now the judges need to man up and find his and/or associates in contempt, with ever increasing penalties. The Extreme Court may have exempted him with their immunity ruling, but not his associates. They carry our his orders. If the price is high enough, he won't be able to find anyone to do so.

Not just his lies. Most likely his actions as well. Imagine the spectacle of, to take an extreme example, sending federal agents to arrest Obama or Biden.
