Okay die Zeile drunter hab ich übersehen, ja die macht es dann durchschnittlich. Da nehme ich das zurück - finde aber dass die Durchschnittsbetrachtung auch die falsche ist, man sollte schon auch auf die extremeren Enden der Verteilung schauen. Durchschnittlich brennt ein Haus auch 0 mal ab.

Bei Risiken schaut man ja schon i.d.R. auf den Longtail und nicht auf den Median oder Arithmethisches Mittel. Und wenn man da auf das 80% oder 90% Perzentil schaut, dann ist man sicher bei 1-2 im Jahr. Könnte man sicher klarer formulieren, aber dass ein Mittelwert gemeint ist, ist interpretation.

Ein einzelnes Jahr als den ultimativen Datenpunkt zu nehmen ist aber auch nicht solide. Wenn man das Mittel der letzten 3 Jahre nimmt ist man höher und dass es immer monoton sinkt ist durch Evolution und genereller Variabilität (noch sind wir ja vmtl. in der Honeymoon-Phase) eher unwahrscheinlich.

Then I had an idea which would work with a static generated file using http range requests and only need quick periodic updates and aside from that no server running permanently (so lower cost, less energy), but implementation was way above what I am capable of given my limited time.

I originally used overpass turbo for location lookup for my crowd data collection tool, which wasn't that reliable, so I started building my own solution, which would have cost around 60-80€ / month in cloud infrastructure (which also means quite a bit of energy for the constantly running servers).

Overall I agree with your points but when it comes to code it really depends on the usage, the thing with code is that it is reusable so you don't always have the constant regeneration ,it can be a one off effort and depending on how you use it, it can reduce energy demand. 90th percentile (one visit in ten is higher), from highest to lowest: pubs 2,720 ppm, bars 2,551, places of worship 1,643, schools 1,571, theatres 1,533, doctors' practices 1,513, restaurants 1,399, supermarkets 1,394, cafés 1,382, cinemas 1,378, hotels 1,234, bakeries 1,177, hospitals 1,159, museums 1,109, drugstores 1,099, clothes shops 1,011, shopping centres 967, fast food 918, DIY stores 723. The six types from pubs to doctors' practices are shown in red because their 90th percentile is 1,500 ppm or more.

Pubs and bars have by far the longest tails: their boxes reach about 1,500 to 1,600 ppm and their 95th percentiles lie near 3,900 and 3,600 ppm. The other boxes lie roughly between 550 and 1,250 ppm.

Notes next to the chart: in pubs and bars the worst tenth of visits is above 2,700 and 2,550 ppm, the worst twentieth above 3,600. In doctors' practices one visit in ten is above 1,500 ppm, one in twenty above 1,800. School measurements are probably biased: they are mostly taken by teachers who control the windows and are more aware of air quality than the average teacher.

Even all other issues aside, having at the same time the position that AGI/ASI is nigh and investing into nuclear which will be finished way later than according to the same people AGI is achieved is incredibly inconsistent. ASI would make any existing SMR design obsolete before they are finished.

It has similarities with investing into fusion power plants and direct air capture of CO2 to solve the climate crisis rather than using existing tools to decarbonize. There are some reasons to accelerate infant technologies but sometimes the future-tech is used as excuse to do nothing in the present

I didn’t mean meat->plant-based-alternatives ( but that’s also interesting ), but a shift to different share of meat to non-meat in the diet ( share of each component within the meals as well as amount of meals with meat at all). I‘m on Train/SEV the whole day so just guessing unusually uninformed.

Not necessarily less overall but I‘d assume from first principles that because of the higher prices the distribution shifts away from meat towards plant-based foods. Haven‘t looked it up honestly, but price difference between org/conv meat usually is higher than between org/conv plantbased foods.

The indicators are based on mass of the food I assume? As the prices are different organic vs conventional also influences the „what you eat“ ( and maybe also how much you eat and waste), so my hunch would be that accounting for this, the indicators would all move left a bit.

Wichtig wäre erstmal das überhaupt jemand haftet, denke es gibt Fälle bei denen es der Nutzer / die nutzende Firma sein sollte und nicht der Modellentwickler - besonders wenn der Nutzer es als Werkzeug verwendet und nicht direkt selbst den Output nutzt.

That is a very short term view though, might be best outcome in the first round but slowly spiral down a bad path. Picking a 3rd candidate ( or minor party in proportional representation) increases incentives next time for the major parties to gain these people back.

Nursing Degree sind in Vielen Ländern ISCED-6 und bei uns als Ausbildung ISCED-3. Rechtsanwaltsfachangestellte ähnlich mit ISCED-3 und in andern Ländern ISCED-5 oder 6.

Fände ja mal spannend wie Schulen mit/ohne mechanischer Lüftungsanlage abgeschnitten haben (würde sich theoretisch rausfinden lassen zumindest für jene die die Studie erstellt haben) oder auch in Abhängigkeit von der Innenraumluftqualität (wird ja leider gar nicht erfasst).

Zocken würde ich stark bezweifeln da hat sich doch nix wirklich geändert (wenn eher in die Richtung dass Geschlechtsunterschiede kleiner werden sollten, was sie soweit ich sehe nicht sind sondern wieder größer als 2018). Ich würde ja gerne mal Ergebnisse sehen für Schule hat Lüftungsanlage ja/nein.

Höherer Krankheitslast seit Corona (sowohl der Schüler, Lehrer, Erziehungsberechtigten, auch indirekt dann durch höhere Arbeitsbelastung der nicht-kranken) und mutmaßlich schlechtere Luftqualität sowohl in Schulen als zuhause durch höhere Energiepreise kann es ebenso teilweise sein.

It is disheartening & predictable to see Suzanne O’Sullivan once again given a platform to promote psychosomatic explanations for chronic illness — this time in a Telegraph article attacking disabled people as influenced by social media, identity and attention.

There is a fundamental problem with this framework: it creates a self-reinforcing evidential trap. If patients accept a psychosomatic explanation, it confirms the theory.

If they reject it, their distress is interpreted as evidence that they are psychologically invested in being ill.

If they seek support from other patients, that's “social reinforcement”.

Ich hatte einen Denkfehler dachte wenn die Mutter gleichzeitig Großmutter ist, dann wären es nur 3. Aber dann sind ja die, die üblicherweise ausschließlich die Ureltern großmütterlicherseits wären auch gleichzeitig die Großeltern und damit dann 5.
