Standoff hypothesis, stronger. At 1653Z, ie 4 hours ago, 5 NATO warships were active around an unidentified echo of similar size to NATO ships, in an area often used by Russia for loiter. Ship is visible with SAR satellite imagery, but does not broadcast.

Still image of the tracks. The practice of running patrols, as stated in manuals and explained by sailors, is a way of keeping the ship fully ready for any circumstance, ie a heightened state of alert. The triangle area is commonly used by Russian navy units to loiter.

Last ca 72h at least 5 unknown NATO warships have been operating with unusual 'running patrol' or readiness track by Skagen, ie entry to Baltic Sea and also commonly a loiter spot for Russia. A few hours ago area was passed by Russian Syrian express, possible destroyer-escorted.

Russia seem to have detained Germany-owned, Cyprus-flagged cargo ship VÄSTERBOTTEN for 10 hours. Now back in Estonia. Will be very interesting to hear what happened, because Russia might be strengthening precedent for eg inspections of shadow fleet by their actions.
