From the people who’ve done it to me, I think it usually comes less from a place of specifically knowing/suspecting than just generally sensing something was up and then being presented with “this person is trans” and them sort of going “yep, this would explain everything i couldn’t place before”.

I always thought Shadowrun would have worked better as the future of a fantasy setting rather than the future of our world.
