Oh wow now I'm very curious how Quebec is making their bus stops more tolerable! Also increasing frequency would go a long way toward making those cold waits less harsh, but I suppose that costs even more than upgrading shelters.

Weird reality of the Twin Cities is essentially living inside a double blind experiment for every policy imaginable. Really goes to show that activists were quite correct that the pause was about giving ppl extra time to catch up on back rent, not just delaying the inevitable as the mayor argued

Yep, it's so ridiculous and doesn't feel at all useful to actual community safety. Even the plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer that led to arrests of white nationalists involved *a dozen informants and agents*. Those men are not good guys but I really doubt how truly threatening they really were.

Someone who's a server in fine dining told me that customers are using ChatGPT to ORDER FOR THEM and I lost it w horror at that level of cognitive offloading. She said a couple asked her to recc wine pairings but when she came back they changed their order bc ChatGPT had recommended different wines

For me, my toxic parent passed away 10 years ago and was never very tech savvy so I was able to mostly stay low-contact. But we did have a lot of painful arguments about how I wasn't posting enough about how much I loved her on facebook.

Was just talking to a friend about this, we both moved to the west coast in 2004 and at that time the distance allowed us to have the low-contact relationships with our families that we needed. BC of technology it's become a lot harder for her in the intervening years and she had to go no-contact.

I think we need to be starting more weird little tiny building businesses on empty lots since they are essentially unregulated. Awhile ago I was curious to know what was in the city code about newsstands and discovered that council had voted to remove all the ordinances surrounding them in 2008.

Honestly if anyone made a point and shoot camera as good as a phone I'd just get that, but the options I've found are just way too expensive to be worth it. I have loved not being as available via text but the unreliability of SMS in an RCS world just kinda sucks.

A year and a half after starting my dumbphone experiment I have ordered a smartphone again. It's the lack of a good camera, bad typing experience, and no access to RCS that have ultimately done me in. Hoping I have learned better habits and can avoid returning to my scrolling addiction.

Imo you don't need Mamdani's rizz to make good online video, but you do have to be authentically interested in connecting w constituents and hire ppl who are good at producing engaging videos. Frey's videos instead show exactly how inauthentic and disinterested in his constituents he is.

The longer I run my own biz the more I see that almost every small storefront biz is 1 or more of the following: -been around so long they have a 10+ year lease at a good price OR they bought the bldg 30 years ago -has low rent bc they have a slumlord OR a landlord that cares about the local economy
