I did like it! It was very well done, well-acted, and well-structured, and the overarching themes around Bryan's fear of commitment, how it seems to haunt him throughout a narrative which puts him at the whims of people who embody his weakest traits, all the while he's improving, is satisfying!

Yeah, there were some downsides (the Alan Wake DLC) but they were shortlived in comparison to the fun I had in the rest of the game. On one hand, I get wanting to branch out and try new things, but they shot themselves in the foot with that AW DLC afaic, and I'm less invested as a result.

It was like a more polished version of the SCP stuff I grew up with, and I found the entire situation Jesse was stuck in compelling, and her interactions with it really grounded and kind of funny in that way. The shooting was good, the powers were fun, and the setting was great.

Chitin suggested it was just the same kind of initiative from the core rules of Warhammer--I didn't have time to check my 11th ed. manual before work to confirm--but it's still weird not to have an explanation in the KT core book for people whose first contact with the gaming aspect is KT.

It's the fucking *worst* moment, it's harrowing shit. Like Utena is a good anime. It has important things to say about how adults exploit the kids in their care when they're going through one of the most emotionally vulnerable periods of their life. But because of that it's so hard to recommend.
