We had an amazing time at the University of Münster. Our replicators covered papers across psychology, public health and political science! Huge thanks to @bschlipphak.bsky.social, Katrin Schmietendorf, @aufdroeseler.bsky.social and Oliver Kamps for organizing.

@lukaswallrich.bsky.social is doing a hands-on: Doing an AI-led reproduction and comparing models. Here is a random example from his slights about how agents perform on the "deadly femal hurricanes" study (10.1073/pnas.1402786111).

Save big now? After €20,000 were paid for one open access book (from tax money), the publisher hides the free openly accessible copy on their website, allowing people to pay another few hundred euros for what is already free. Shame on you @routledgebooks.bsky.social. from the Pühringer #OAdays talk

Very interesting discussions are happening at @forrt.bsky.social's AI in meta-science conference. For example: You can now produce a paper every hour. Will the literature be entirely unusable without another layer of AI or will there be a bifurcation for low- vs high-effort papers? Can PRC work?

Give your peer review to the journals that give back. Diamond open access journals don't charge authors to publish or readers to access; they run on community effort, for the community's benefit. Pledge one review a year and help sustain the research community. forrt.org/diamond-reviewer

Peer review is a gift researchers give to the field, worth >$1B globally in 2020. Imagine if more of that generosity flowed straight back into the scholar-led journals that make research free to read and free to publish. Help build that future, become a diamond reviewer forrt.org/diamond-reviewer

After having worked with the OSF for one decade, I have 85 projects (166 components in total) with 24 (27%) private. I have a bit of time left, checking and switching the 24 projects to public, but here is what I am checking for the private projects.
Making OSF Projects Public Checklist

Sharing rights: We have the rights to publish all files in the project.

Anonymity: The data it contains (e.g. research data) does not include identifying information (e.g. names, email addresses, IP addresses).

Sub-components: If the project has sub-components, they have their own independent visibility setting on OSF and may need to be switched separately.

Many of us are now learning that research infrastructure is not persistent. Here is a checklist of what I consider when choosing a service. This applies to data repositories, preprint servers, but also to academic journals or research software.
A graphic titled "Service Choice Checklist" with the subtitle "What should I consider before using a service for research infrastructure?"

The graphic lists five checklist items:

Non-commercial: If it is for-profit and free, then you are the product (see stoptrackingscience)

Open source & Licenses: It may allow others to review the code, make it interoperable, or to host the service

Disciplinary scope: Some or for all disciplines and some cover specific fields

Affiliation requirements: Institutional repositories require you to be affiliated with the institution

Long-term commitment: Has the provider committed to providing the service for the next years? How is it funded?
