interestingly enough, booktok seems to be more effective at promoting older titles, not new ones (reference writestats.com/old-books-ne...) and we see this in the circulation data - since 2023, popular ebooks start getting older. we don't see this trend at all with physical books!

I love the library and I love data, so when I found a super clean dataset about Seattle Public Library circulation, I went data spelunking hoping I'd yield fun facts to share at parties. Turns out, it was just the beginning of a rabbit hole into a larger cultural shift in how we consume books. 1/
