People suffering under the pressures of capital will not make time to research complex and nuanced policy decisions for each individual candidate. That’s not a practical thing to expect of the people who need representation the most. Coalitions and parties make it easier to engage and participate

TLDR; Need -Formal DL onboarding -designated turf cutters, like all they do, this way it’s plug and play when election season comes round. -more people: requires people to be less cynical and more optimistic or driven, starts with better candidates up and down ticket. Not bad not great.

… to play catch up, it’ll have to wait. Not ideal with you’re in a district that the state relies on the juice our vote totals. My district is also HEAVY union, we should have more PCPs than we do. Union members are exactly who we should be reaching out to for support and direction.

The same goes for setting up district meetings. There’s not a lot of “infrastructure” in our district. My district doesn’t have a recent record of holding regular gatherings and meet ups and socials for new Dems to join and get involved. I plan on changing that but with how much I’m needing…

It’s largely what you make it, so far. At the same time, we lack good onboarding. Upon coming into the position I immediately found that I needed to learn to cut turf (assign territory/doors) for folks to canvas, and resources for how to do this, while abundant, are not straightforward to find.
