It is my belief that David is a failed clone of Larry (combined with an illicitly-obtained material from Chi Chi Rodriguez, the elder Ellison's favorite pro golfer), as shown on the cover of the first Devo album. #thecompletetruthaboutdeevolution

We watched a VHS bootleg for a bad-movie marathon in college and immediately realized that its take on the Justice League was based on Friends: Atom was the Ross, Flash was the Joey, and Green Lantern was the Chandler. Fire and Ice seemed to be Rachel/Monica, which leaves J'onn as Phoebe.

Very similar to the story related in the grunge-scene documentary HYPE! where the NYT printed a listicle of "grunge slang" as told to them by a Seattle indie record label employee who decided to have a bit of fun with some credulous journos.
Grunge speak words
The following were in the Times lexicon:

bloated, big bag of bloatation – drunk
bound-and-hagged – staying home on Friday or Saturday night
cob nobbler – loser
dish – desirable guy
fuzz – heavy wool sweaters
harsh realm – bummer
kickers – heavy boots
lamestain – uncool person
plats – platform shoes
rock on – a happy goodbye
score – great
swingin' on the flippity-flop – hanging out
tom-tom club – uncool outsiders
wack slacks – old ripped jeans
Jasper had also offered tuna platter ("a hot date"), and regretted that it had not appeared in the article.[2][9]

Spotted a FactPost skeet with an obvious AI-generated Vance voice reading this excerpt from his memoir aloud, and had to track down the quote to see if it was actually real, and apparently it is? www.yahoo.com/news/politic...
Screenshot from a Daily Telegraph article containing quoted excerpts from J.D. Vance's second memoir:

In early 2020, shortly before the birth of his second child, Mr Vance said he embarked on a "paranoid" panic-buying spree after hearing early reports about the outbreak of Covid in China.

"I drove to a sporting goods store and bought one thousand rounds of ammunition," he wrote. "Then I went to Walmart and bought enormous bags of rice and flour, twenty pounds of ground beef, and excessive amounts of ketchup."

Mr Vance was asked by a woman at the checkout counter whether he owned a restaurant, to which he replied: "No, but the China virus is coming."

In response, he said: "She looked at me like I had an arm growing out of my forehead."

Compare that to the Dems turnout for Acton, running unopposed in her primary: Over 742K votes out of only about 800K registered Dems in the WHOLE state. That's 92%! There's still about 5.7M unaffiliated voters out there, but that's a WILD party-enthusiasm gap for Ramaswamy to have to beat.

Ramaswamy got just under 300K votes out of roughly 1.5M registered Republican voters in the state. Which means that only about 20% of them even bothered to show up for him against Casey Putsch, a frothing racist nutjob who still managed to pull in 64K votes from the furthest-right fringe.

I think an even more stark example is the egregiously deepfaked Luke Skywalker that appeared in The Book of Boba Fett. The AI-simulated voice performance (supposedly based on line readings by Hamill, ordinarily a fine voice actor) was utterly lifeless, like hearing words being typed out one by one.

Far-future archaeologists unearthing the cultural detritus of the past century are going to assume either that Ellison owned Warner Bros Records in the 1970s or that Devo were a 2020s band with a fierce loyalty to WB's CEO, because why else would they have put his face on their major-label debut?
From Wikipedia: "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! is the debut studio album by American new wave band Devo. It was originally released in August 1978 on Warner Bros. in North America and Virgin Records in Europe. Produced by Brian Eno, the album was recorded between October 1977 and February 1978, primarily in Cologne, West Germany."

Looking at Wikipedia's list of current late-night programs, I feel the funniest/most unlikely possibility is Andy Cohen? I also thought of John Mulaney, but his Netflix show has only been on for a year so he wouldn't have been able to have an affair with an audience member 6 years ago.
