@susayeg.bsky.social I hope you're doing well! I made this beautiful mixtape with The Supremes on Side A. And I think you look fabulous! The intent was to make it feel like showtime at the Apollo!

Well, this sucks! My Tetris cartridge—the first Nintendo game I ever owned—has a crack at the bottom. Which means it’s now unplayable. When I was nine-years-old, this was my life.
A close-up photo of a gray Nintendo Game Boy cartridge held in a person’s left hand against a light-colored wall. The label shows the classic “TETRIS” title in large red letters over a blue space-like background with falling block pieces. The cartridge has “Nintendo GAME BOY” embossed at the top and a small “Official Game Boy” seal on the right side of the label.

Richard III on VHS. Always wa ted to see this movie. Bought it for $1 at a local thrift store. All I know is that it’s Ian McKellen’s breakout role. And it’s basically Shakespeare set in the 1930s—lots of Fascist overtones.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape. One of the best 3D platformers ever made. An incredible PC classic. I also own it on GOG. But I’ve owned this copy for a long time. Thankfully, I have a Windows XP laptop to play this on.

Folks, I’ve just located Heaven! I’m at an actual 80s arcade. Actual real cabinets—not PCs running emulators. CRTs, not LCDs. I can’t believe my eyes!

Picked up this album on cassette in a thrift store. Amorphism by Masahiko Satoh. Didn’t know who Masahiko Satoh is. But I definitely know who Eddie Gomez and Steve Gadd are. If Masahiko can get those two in his band, he must be good. And he is! A monster pianist!
A left hand holds up a cassette tape case over a dark stone countertop. The cover art shows a green drink in a glass on a table with utensils and fruit, in a bright, colorful still-life style. Text at the top reads: “AMORPHISM: MASAHIKO SATOH” and “featuring EDDIE GOMEZ & STEVE GADD.” In the background, slightly out of focus, are glass-front drink coolers with bottles and cans inside.

Trump shared this image on Truth Social. If you’re still wondering if Trump is joking, this should be a wake up call. He’s not just claiming Venezuela. He doesn’t just want to take Greenland. He’s coming for Canada too.
A group meeting in an ornate office with gold-trimmed walls and bookshelves. A man sits behind a large wooden desk gesturing while several suited attendees sit closely together on the right, listening. Behind the desk, a large board shows a map of North America filled with U.S. flag stripes.

Got the chance to play SiN today. And I just realized something. This is still a PC exclusive. Never arrived on console. This is an example of why retrogaming discussions are incomplete if “historians” don’t talk about PC gaming.

Gone in 60 Seconds on VHS. I haven’t seen it yet. I keep hearing it’s better than its reputation. Nicolas Cage is in it, so statistically I’m obligated. Why VHS. It was $1. I still have an all-in-one CRT with a built-in VCR. Also, physical media still matters. Even when it’s ridiculous.
Hand holding a worn VHS tape of the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. The cover shows a close-up of Nicolas Cage’s face at the top, a blurred sports car in motion across the center, and Angelina Jolie posed at the lower right. The title “Gone in 60 Seconds” appears in large distressed white lettering, with the cast names Angelina Jolie, Giovanni Ribisi, and Robert Duvall printed along the bottom. The background is a plain off-white wall.

Look at that. Trump “respects” Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Calls him a “very strong man.” And he’s only saying this because millions of Americans were on the precipice of real harm. www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...

It took 35 years, but the Nikkei 225 has not only reached its 1989 stock market highs, it's been able to sustain those highs for at least a year. Which, all things considered, is pretty incredible. Because the Japanese stock market was a case study of near-permanence in bubbles.

#DeepSeek popped the #AI bubble! It's triggering the collapse of the #StockMarket! At least, that's what everyone else was telling me. But look at the stock market today. The NASDAQ Composite is close to it's all time high. And what's more, nobody noticed!

Just bought these Sony MDR-EX15LP in-ear headphones. They’re not amazing, but for $10—decent. They fit well in the ear. And as far as treble is concerned, they’re all right. However, the bass leaves a lot to be desired. That said, they don’t sound tinny, and at least there’s bass.

Sister Sledge - He’s the Greatest Dancer / Somebody Loves Me (1979) The disco era had a lot of great bass, but I’d say “He’s the Greatest Dancer” is one of the best—probably tied with “Good Times”. And funny enough, Nile Rodgers wrote both songs. Was supposed to be a Chic song.

Shonen Knife - Rock Animals (1993) One of the most punk rock bands to ever exist—precisely because they’re a bunch of Japanese girls singing about cute boys, kitties high on catnip, and delicious mushrooms. Also one of my favourite bands ever.

A split 7” single of Fire-Toolz and R23X. Oddly, I bought this as a retro game convention. And it’s an intriguing mix of synthwave and death metal. Shouldn’t work but it does.

Kate Bush - Never For Ever (1980) Her 3rd album, and worth it alone for Babushka, but every track is a killer. What an amazing musician. Kate Bush truly is a rock goddess.

This is bothering me because I know this cassette is old: it was made by Ampex. But I don’t know which year it came out. I’m guessing 1971?

Kate Bush - Lionheart (1978) An incredible prog rock album. Yes, I said “prog”—because that’s what this is and Kate Bush is one of the greatest prog rockers to ever do it. And what a voice!

WHAT?! 😮 #Threads just took a page out of #Bluesky’s book and implemented a custom feeds feature. So basically, Threads now has Bluesky’s major selling point—which is choose-your-own-algorithm.

Just tested the FiiO CP13’s ability to output to my car stereo. I cranked the volume knob to its highest and heard no distortion. And the device performs well when the car is in motion.

😂 Trump stans like Tim Pool have no bloody clue about Canada. We’d rather burn the economy to the ground then live under the thumb of the USA. If you want to go to war, we will go to war.

People often ask me, "Why are you still into cassettes?" Here's a big reason. If you go onto #Bandcamp, you'll discover that a whole lot of new releases are on cassette. And actually, a whole lot of releases are *only* on cassette.

I got DeepSeek to critique Marxist-Leninism, then it suddenly deleted everything—and said the subject was outside its scope. And this was right after it pitched me on the benefits of centralization by the Chinese Communist Party. 😂

#Threads now has 320M MAUs, and 100M daily actives. #Twitter clearly has competition on its hands. I have mixed feelings about this, but at least Threads is more open than Twitter is.

When you use #ATProto (that is, #Bluesky), anyone can observe who you block and therefore index it. Yeah, I imagine a whole lot of trouble can occur because of that.

If #Pixelfed reaches $200,000 in funding a non-profit Pixelfed Foundation will be registered as a legal entity. This alone is worth contributing to Pixelfed’s #Kickstarter, and improves #Fediverse governance. We’re half way there! www.kickstarter.com/projects/pix...

#Pixelfed is now 20% of the Fediverse’s total MAUs. The caveat here is that this does not count #Misskey since that count isn’t accurately reported. Nevertheless, this is a significant moment for the #Fediverse in terms of diversification of software distribution.

Finally grabbed my mitts on the #Olas iOS app, which is similar to #Instagram and #Pixelfed —except it runs on the #Nostr protocol. For the first time, I feel like Nostr is useful because the Bitcoin talk is at a minimum. Don’t use the web app—giving web apps your private key is a bad idea!
