I love making Aasimar that are a little freaky~ This one was inspired by a cute dress that made me think of Orrerys. Then Add the head-wings and the multiple eyes from an Ophanim!

Exploring inspiration from Aztecs/Ancient Mexico, I came up with two cultures i can't wait to share more about. For now, this one is indeed about Harpies! The bright colors and black clothes come from Alebrije, which makes them look kinda like Sci Fi-Natives? Kind of fun imo!

A Sketch of a winged harpy lady. Her legs are those of a bird, and she has wings on her bac. Pointy ears and nose. Dark-skinned with that bronze tone characteristic of latinos in Mexico. Her clothes are inspired by Aztec warriors with a civilian spin, the bright minty green inspired by Alebrije to make her culture stand out more.

I think Angels are neat, but Celestials could be a touch more monstruous. Only then does the "Be not afraid" makes sense. Meet Artemis, a Celestial in my setting. Her skin looks like Marble and her disconnected limbs defy logic. Her Divine Bow shoots arrows made of holy light.

Artemis, an Angel with Marble skin, Blonde-pale hair and 8 wings. Her Head, Forearms and Forelegs are all disconnected from the torso, emulating Ancient sculptures. Pair of wings on head, Torso and Ankles of each leg emulating Hermes. Golden Metal Kneepads and Elbowpads accentuate the dettached limbs. White Blouse and skirt, with brown straps emulating greek sandals. She has 2 sets of Amber eyes, one of which directly between her eyes and cheeks. Her right hand is missing, manipulating a holy bow through Magic, a golden string to be used for golden light arrows she creates on her other hand.

Second Draft! After figuring out clothes and details, that's when i can usually have a little fun with posing to share more personality. By pushing the pose, i also get to polish a few things on not just clothes but anatomy. She now has a better blend of Spider-like body and Porcelain Doll~

We'ben redrawn in a more dynamic pose this time. Leaning backwards and her head to the side, she gives the sensation that she would fall over like a puppet with strings. Her Limbs now have Ball joints in shoulders and knees inspired by dolls. The Elbows, neck, Navel, cheeks and other small areas also have exposed muscle, emulating Spider/Crab-like limbs and hands. Her eyes now have Black Sclera and a shiny sky blue with white pupils looking at the viewer with a smirk. Her Legs now have a classic Fantasy boot look to them, with exposed toes.

Weben is a Blue-skinned female figure wearing tattered clothes in stitches. She has long blue-gray hair and a white diadem. She has 4 arms, 1 set of arms over the other. The ones above have long sleeved black gloves while the set below has small fingerless gloves. She has spider-like threads wrapped around her wrists and hip, and She's playing with a magic thread while looking at the viewer with a tilted head, a playful smile and vacant empty eyesockets.

I think Elves that look like humans with pointy ears have no reason to co-exist with Half-Elves that.... look exactly the same. That's why i decided to make my own take on a Dark Elf: The Um'bran. Sum'brae here is the princess of the Underdark, with a tireless curiosity for what the surface holds.

The same character presented twice. In one she's completely pitch black with only white dots for eyes being recognizable.

On the Right, a Dark Elf with elongated arms, legs, torso and neck gives her a super tall Alien look. Her skin is a deep blue-ish purple. Black Sclera and white pupils. Long Dark blue hair and elongated pointy ears even for an elf. Her clothes are all black. A Skirt, toeless-socks, a simple bra and plenty of see-through clothes over her cleavage, arms and legs. She has small violet edge-accesories in a necklace, belt and socks to break apart the general dark color without bringing too much attention to themselves.
Her hands are much bigger than her hands, with elongated fingers that make her silhouette look like claws

What helped Vancian grow on me was reflavoring my spellbook as "copying" the spell into magic sheets of paper/charging crystals/magic cards, and then whenever i cast multiple magic missiles is because i have repeated cards to burn. It makes it so much fun to imagine preparation of spells this way.

On the left, a version where the Stole is actually just Silky fabric with "foam" details. Her dress also covers her a lot more, with "Wet" markings helping it drag down. Her expression is somewhere between neutral and uninterested in the viewer.

On the right, A much more playful version with more revealing clothes. Open Mid riff and the dress is less a dress and more of Loin Cloth. Her black Thigh highs have cut ins in the knees and dont cover the waist.

The final design is somewhere in the middle of these two.

Designed a Water Genasi. Got inspired by Desert stuff, so i might write down a one shot in the future. Her name is O'isis. It's a fun pun of sorts, mixing "Oasis" because of her water powers and "Isis", which means "Throne of the Queen". Yes, she can water-bend as her main means of attack.

A Blue-skinned Humanoid with black Sclera and white pupils known as a Water Genasi. She's posing with her arms open, a Scarf-like Stole wrapped around her arms and waist, but the twist is that it's made of water and kept afloat through magic. Her Sorcery shapes one end of the Stole into an Eel to bite at her enemies. Her Dark blue dress is made of Satin, with an opening for her waist and her thighs as a whole. Silver chains adorn the edges of her dress with Purple gems centered as accesories. She's got Black loose Hair that goes all the way to her knees, with a semi-transparent veil the same color as the water, held on her head with silver chains. Toeless shoes. Ample cleavage. A Smirk that tells the viewer she's confident in her beauty and her abilities.

It isnt until people actually find themselves using action economy that the "Feel" of a caster truly comes into play. Wizard feels like the "Fighter" of Spellcasters, where you have full control over what you want to build. So its more shiny jingling keys that distract reading classes "on paper"

Some spells feel bad to prepare under such limitations. A Wizard can pick 3 instances of Magic Missile while a sorcerer picks it once and just spends the resource instead. Then the kineticist doesnt even spend a resource? Tunnel vision would dictate one is superior to the others 2/?

I think something that helped bring issues with the game feel itself was how mechanical adjacent things can feel. Wizard selects a spell in a slot to utilize it. Sorcerer spends a spell slot on any of their pool of spells. Kineticist breaks the mold and thus feels "Better" to many. 1/?

I think the attitude of "Useless spells" come from a combination of factors. One of them being Not everyone wants to play a spellcaster, so its not uncommon to try to cover as many weaknesses/vulnerabilities as possible. (Having to coordinate with others to make sure you can target saves and all)

It makes me wonder the value of homebrewing spells/feats and just changing their availability while adjusting power, you know? Making higher level feats weaker just so you can get it earlier. I dont know...

when the wizard does guaranteed damage with their spell despite every enemy saving... but Barbarian landed one good hit in after missing all of them last turn. (True story, i was the wizard and my friend only wanted to attack for the kill)
