In celebration of #InternationalLiteracyDay, I'm talking about a book I'm currently reading. It's Special Delivery by @rexburke.bsky.social and I'm adoring it! The writing is great, characters' voices are varied, and I'm pulled into the story. Can't wait to see what's happening next!

I understand these words separately, but they surely must mean something different in this sentence, right? I'm on good "adult" money, and it would be outside of my reach... Applications to open for 40 'affordable' one-bed Stillorgan apartments priced from €255k share.google/1GECv2yePzuD...

The mast is up! Didn't have enough time to put the boom up, so that will be a job for later, probably just before she goes into the water, which is in 2 weeks time. Most importantly - the cup holders fit! 😂

Lmao apparently people near me are freaking out about a non binary teacher And I am watching the entire community come together to dunk on the much smaller group of transphobic dipshits and it is DELICIOUS The local newspaper even snarkily wrote about them and I am CRYING

- A group of fully grown adults
collapsed into emotional rubble this week after encountering a teacher title that did not personally receive their approval. The incident triggered mass Facebook posts, legal threats, and a community-wide reminder that the people screaming "kids are too soft" cannot emotionally survive one new word.
Parents immediately announced they were pulling children from music class, threatening lawsuits, and demanding firings, all because children accepted something calmly, politely, and without a meltdown.
This response enraged adults, who had worked very hard to be upset.
Children processed the situation in under 30 seconds.
Adults have now entered day three of spiral posting.
Several parents described the issue as "dangerous" and "immoral," words they apparently reserve for situations involving tambourines and basic respect.
One adult warned that children might ask questions, confirming the real horror is not gender, but curiosity.
The fragility on display has been remarkable. These are the same adults who mock participation trophies, complain about snowflakes, and brag about "how we were raised." That upbringing, it turns out, produced people who short-circuit when reality fails to match their Facebook comfort zone.

Experts note that not one child reported confusion, distress, or identity crisis. However, dozens of adults reported being personally wounded, spiritually attacked, and victimized by the existence of a teacher who did not cater to their feelings.
At press time, children remained fine. Music class remained fine. The school remained fine. Only the adults were broken, trembling before the terrifying idea that the world does not freeze until they approve it.
Community Note: If you would like to counter the noise, the district needs supportive messages reminding them that calm, inclusive adults still exist and that children do not need to be rescued from basic human respect.
The
encourages these parents to locate
the nearest mirror and ask themselves why a second grader has more emotional stability than they do.

In a world of terrifying political news from all over, let me say this: Ice Road: Vengeance is exactly what I needed today.

A movie poster for Ice Road: Vengeance featuring Liam Neeson aiming a handgun with an intense expression. He has visible cuts and scrapes on his face, wearing a dark jacket. Behind him is a snow-covered Mount Everedt and part of a truck with a shattered side mirror. The title "ICE ROAD: VENGEANCE" is displayed in bold orange and red gradient text at the bottom, with "Liam Neeson" written above it.

I'm burnt out, anxious, unable to focus, and overthink in overdrive. So, I took 2 weeks off work to recover. Today I slept until 10, I played a game, looked at boats for sale, got food, watched a show. I'll paint, plan a new tattoo, journal. A reason to be anxious is: I'm not relaxing hard enough...

Ok, Witness 8 by @stevecavanagh.bsky.social was such a ride. And boy, did I enjoy it! The action is swift and there's so much going on. Highly recommend it for any thriller fans. #books #library #ReadMore

A close-up of the book Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh, placed on a striped bedsheets. The cover features a dramatic image of a woman in a red coat walking down a dimly lit hallway toward a bright arched doorway. Text on the cover reads:
"THE MILLION COPY BESTSELLER"
"WHAT IF THE WITNESS TO A MURDER IS MORE TWISTED THAN THE KILLER?"
There’s also a quote from Anthony Horowitz:
"Steve Cavanagh's twists hit you between the eyes."

So, as of yesterday, I'm a proud owner of a lovely 26-feet sailing cruiser! *squeaks in excitement* Oh, I'm in for a wild ride and one hull of a steep learning curve!

A sailboat with a white and faded red hull is propped up on a trailer in a boatyard under a clear blue sky. The boat is in the storage, as its mast is down and the hull shows signs of wear before the pre-season clean up. Various items, including ropes, metal parts, and pipes, are scattered around on the ground.

Lazy last day of holidays is best spent by the pool, reading another Sam Wyndham book by @radiomukhers.bsky.social , listening to a storm slowly rolling in over the Andaman Sea. Eh, good times...

A picture of me lounging by a poolside, holding a copy of the book Death in the East. One leg is bent and supports the book, the other stretched out on a wooden deck. The scene is framed by lush green palm trees, a blue swimming pool, and tropical-style architecture in the background. A decorative stone elephant base supports a patio umbrella nearby.

Scored a major wit at work by getting approval for the WAVE browser extension by @webaim.bsky.social for accessibility testing! Celebrating with a treat on my commute home.

A slice of marble cake with a chocolate coating on the edges rests on a brown napkin atop a red paper wrapper on a blue plastic tray table. Next to it is a black reusable coffee cup with a closed lid, branded with "BEAR MRKT". The setting is a train, indicated by the foldable tray table and the seatback in the background.

Today was the last exam of the course. I would feel free and relieved if not for a sheer exhaustion and doneness with everything. Book time...

A close-up photo of the book "Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City" by K.J. Parker. The cover features an ornate border on the left, with medieval-style patterns, and a central design depicting a black silhouette of armed soldiers carrying spears. The title is in bold, stylized fonts with accents in red and blue. The author's name is in large red letters at the bottom, along with the tagline "World Fantasy Award-Winning Author." The background has a parchment-like texture, and the book is resting on a checkered duvet cover

Got my nails done today. This is becoming a staple in my self-care routine and I love it. I also love the design!

A close-up image of a hand with manicured nails. The nails display a creative design: two nails are painted with solid shades of blue (one darker, one lighter), while the middle two nails feature an abstract "waterfall" effect with streaks of white, gold glitter, and blue over a translucent base.

Quietly reading into 2025 and chapter 31 made me yell out loud, "Wait, what?!". The cat was unable to provide answers, but offered judgement on my outburst. I'm definitely finishing Twisted and here's to hoping that my local library have other books by @stevecavanagh.bsky.social

I've completed my first playthrough of the Veilguard. I may have accidentally achieved the best possible ending, and while not everyone lived happily ever after, it could've been worse. By my count, the most people got their good ending, whatever "good" means in Dragon Age...

Personally, I couldn't wait to get 40. I already have wisdom highlights aplenty, now I'm waiting for the moment when I won't care about the opinions of others enough to run happily squealing into the cold sea, and do weird stuff that can only be justified by a mid-life crisis. Lol 😂

And this is how productivity dropped and suddenly one-finger typers were the fastest ones in the company. 😂 I guess the worst part is that in the race to uniqueness, someone may actually get "inspired" by that vision...

@dublincityuni.bsky.social Earlies this year you sent out a commuting & travel survey. Do you expect only staff and students to adjust their behaviour or are you taking any steps aimed to optimise commuting for staff and students as well? Who would be the best contact to reach out to, please?
