In both cases there's even aliens coming to catch the creatures. After watching the movie I read that very early in its conception, Lilo & Stitch was going to happen in Kansas... same as the other movie about furry small rolling chaotic space fugitives

It was David F. Gray, and I love the "controversy". From presenting evidence that the claimed planetary signal was most likely stellar activity, to looking for a mechanism to explain that activity, to droping the claim based on new evidence and admitting that the planet was the most likely scenario

Mine is Descent. Used to play it at a friends house. Was then the first game I bought for my PC made of second-hand parts when my parents bought a CD player.

So sometimes there are movies that look bad, and you think that maybe they surprise you. Nope. Watched The Devil's Mouth because of Kathryn Newton, and she was one of the only decent things in it.

More in "games I bought ages ago and played for 5 minutes", Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Such a beautiful game! I cannot believe it spent 7 years sitting in my library. I'm like 4.5h in, and I'm really enjoying it.

Continuing with games that I bought a decade ago, I just finished Transistor (2014). Fantastic vibes. The art and music are incredible and carry the game. Overall a fun short adventure with a decent combat system. In a few months, I'm not sure I'll remember anything but the art and the vibes.

In the end, these planets are not heavy super-Jupiters, but most likely puffy balls of gas #exoplanets 🔭

And what about RV? These stars are nasty. Analysing their RV data is very difficult. Even extracting the data is very difficult. We re-extracted the RVs taking into account the extreme line broadening (40 km/s). What we saw is that the planet variations could not be large. #exoplanets 🔭
Phase folded plots at the periods of planets b and c.

Here you can see all the data we obtained. We used TESS, CHEOPS, NGTS, ASTEP, and LCO. On top of the figure you can see the probability distribution of new transits of the second planet. For planet c, the data mostly creates "forbidden regions" where a transit is not happening. 🔭 #exoplanets
All photometric data used in the article. The lines highlight the transits of planet b, the transit of planet c (bjd 10060) and the potential location of another transit of planet c (10370). The top panel shows the probability distribution of the location of other transits of planet c.

A. Suárez Mascareño @asuarezmascareno.com · 18/05/2026
In addition to the CHEOPS data, we managed to get ASTEP+ photometry of the same transit, and of an additional 4th transit. Now we had four transits of the system, and observations in the epochs related fo P/2. The orbital period was not 109 days but 225 days. #exoplanets 🔭
All transits observed of both HD 114082 b and c, including the observations at the potential period alias 112.8 days.

With a second transit we weren't going blind anymore. Potential orbital periods need to match both. With that information, and also using other data we had been obtaining, we constrained the period candidates. Here's the plot I made in 2024 to plan a CHEOPS campaign to chase the planet #exoplanets 🔭

A dreaded moment for any observer. Just as we started the night, we have to close the telescope. Humidity went above 85%, which means there is risk of condensation in the mirror, which is then difficult to dry. Time to wait for the weather to improve 🔭#exoplanets
