The next official JWST release will be of a high resolution image of The Firefly Sparkle galaxy: the earliest stages of the assembly of a Milky Way-type galaxy in a 600 Myr old universe. 🔭 🧪
The Firefly Sparkle is a redshift zs⁢p⁢e⁢c = 8.304 ± 0.001 gravitationally magnified arc lensed by the MACS J1423.8+2404 cluster. Left: Full field with the three objects of interest - Firefly Sparkle (center), Firefly-Best Friend (FF-BF; bottom left), and Firefly-New Best Friend (FF-NBF; bottom right) - shown in boxes and circles. The contours show the lines of lensing magnifications (μ= 15, 20, 30, and 40). Top right: zoom in on the Firefly Sparkle with the clusters labelled. Bottom right: source plane reconstruction of the Firefly Sparkle with the position of neighbor FF-BF shown in red circle.

WAKE UP BABE, A NEW JWST IMAGE OF THE SOMBRERO GALAXY DROPPED!!! 🌌
The galaxu is a very oblong, blue disk that extends from left to right at an angle (from about 10 o’clock to 5 o’clock). The galaxy has a small bright core at the centre. There is a clear inner disk that has speckles of stars scattered throughout. The outer disk of the galaxy is whiteish-blue, and clumpy, like clouds in the sky.

Full image of Pillars Of Creation by JWST (NIRCam). 🔭 🧪
This vertical image has layers of semi-opaque rusty red colored gas and dust that starts at the bottom left and goes toward the top right. There are three prominent pillars rising toward the top right. The left pillar is the largest and widest. The peaks of the second and third pillars are set off in darker shades of brown and have red outlines.

NGC 1566 - MIRI version. Processed by @thocarp.bsky.social www.flickr.com/photos/19746... 🔭 🧪
The James Webb Space Telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) has captured a stunning image of the spiral galaxy NGC 1566. This image reveals the galaxy's intricate dust lanes and star-forming regions in unprecedented detail. The warm dust, heated by young stars, glows brightly in the mid-infrared light, providing astronomers with a unique perspective on the galaxy's structure and evolution.

NGC 3256. The result of two galaxies that collided ~500 million years ago. Processed by @thocarp.bsky.social www.flickr.com/photos/19746... 🔭 🧪
The NIRCam image showcases NGC 3256, a captivating spiral galaxy undergoing a merger. Its distorted shape, long, winding tails, and vibrant core are evidence of the violent cosmic collision that shaped its current form. The image reveals intricate details of the galaxy's structure, highlighting the intense star formation and gas flows triggered by the merger.

Spooky view of NGC 1566. Processed by Jackson Datkuliak. www.astrobin.com/o5rq2o/ 🔭 🧪
This infrared image captures the spiral galaxy NGC 1566, located in the constellation Dorado. The galaxy's swirling arms are illuminated by young, hot stars, while the central region glows with the light of older stars. The image reveals intricate details of the galaxy's structure, including dust lanes and star-forming regions. NGC 1566 is a type SBc spiral galaxy, meaning it has a prominent bar structure at its center. The galaxy is also known as the "Spanish Dancer Galaxy" due to its shape, which resembles a flamenco dancer.
