Nice to share some reflections on rehearsing plural futures and the ecological and cosmic questions bubbling through our improvisation work about collective futures and the scientific search for life beyond Earth - and to celebrate the brilliant imagery of illustrator Will Scobie.

A black, star-filled background. Four coloured panels at the top contain detailed drawings of four different insects. Large white text reads: “ALL WORLDS ALL TIMES… REHEARSING FUTURES OTHERWISE” Beneath the title, arcs of imagined cities and landscapes appear in orange, purple, yellow and blue. At the bottom, white text reads, “A WORKSHOP IN PLURAL IMAGINING.”A black-and-white line drawing of a future technological city. A yellow banner and an insect emblem of a wasp.

Text reads: “…it’s a stark reminder of the difference between the many thoughtful responses that might exist, and the powerful, often bad-faith responses that will play out.”

AWAT WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT, IAUS404 ‘ADVANCING THE SEARCH FOR TECHNOSIGNATURES’, MARCH 2026.A black-and-white line drawing of a different futuristic city with unusual buildings and trees. An orange banner crosses the image beside a insect emblem of a spider.

The banner reads: “We also need to remember that all of our actions have consequences. You move one part of the web, it reverberates.

“ALL WORLDS, ALL TIMES WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT, MAKING & DOING WORKSHOP AT 4S SEATTLE, SEPTEMBER 2025.”A richly detailed black line illustration of imagined cities, buildings and landscapes jostling together, coloured with a spectrum of yellow and orange, purple and blue - a black star field background.

At the centre, vertical white lettering: “ALL WORLDS ALL TIMES.”

We had a lovely time last week visiting the Vic Pride Centre - picked up a bunch of queer books (possible future podcast episodes?) and also saw an exhibition by the artist Andrew Goodman, exploring worlds with different modes of gender, sexuality and reproduction, and inspired by Ursula K Le Guin!
Four books: 'Eros' by Zoe Terakes; 'Rainbow Universes', a zine by Andrew Goodman; 'What is Queer Food?' by John Birdsall, and 'You Weren't meant to be Human' by Andrew Joseph WhiteClose-up of an artwork in an exhibition. Bubble text reads 'Rainbow Universes' in large, dark letters. Below it in a similar font are the words 'Adventures in the Mycelliaverse. Around the text are pictures of worlds connected by lines, and people showing various types of family and reproduction, such as a person splitting in half to form a new person, and a child hatching from an egg.
