pretty much it’s like beginning: these horrible entities of darkness are corrupting our world….. ending: yeah so everyone here has level 10 xenophobia apparently. apologize to them now.

kat 👑 @asteria.blog · 23h

it’s so funny bc the plot will go out of its way to be like “don’t trust that being of darkness who says to trust only him, that’s clearly suspicious” but if you just say that’s bullshit and trust him you get rewarded later in the story for never believing any of them 😭

kat 👑 @asteria.blog · 23h

the biggest bdo lore cheat to understand it fully is just go “i don’t believe any of this” when a character talks bad about black spirits. 9/10 times you’ll be right and that 1 time is something they were justified doing.

Started as a little study and became another one of the 'Secret Society of Unpractical Headpieces in Space' series (that still does not exist) 🪐

Illustration by Eleonor Piteira showing a black woman with an elaborate golden headpiece. Her hair is curly and long, she's wearing a dress, and gold and blue make up on her eyes. She is framed by a circle and behind her there is a space view with a star and small planets.

i should clarify, when i write people doing bad things, it's because i am bad. they are me. more importantly, when you read about those bad things, they also become you. that's how story works. in fact, you are going to think about murder before this skeet ends. how's that feel, sicko.

i knew i overcame The Pit when someone messaged me like “heyy someone is talking about you ://“ and me at my seaside cabana just like oh no how terrible how awful what will i do let me decide after this piña colada

kat 👑 @asteria.blog · 28/09/2026

years ago i told myself to get the fuck out of The Pit because 5-10 years out many of these people would still be in it. my foresight has only continued to be correct!

kat 👑 @asteria.blog · 28/09/2026

what really helped me navigate public online communities or fandoms is viewing the toxic sides as The Pit. sometimes you might get into The Pit and find yourself having crawled out eventually. there will be days where people still in The Pit will try to pull you back in. stay out of The Pit.

i don't regret stepping into this space though. it gave me friends and improved my character making skills and opened me to so many new things. plus i can share my bdo stuff with y'all which i use xiv to worldbuild anyways. and who knows, evercold might cook me food! maybe!

sometimes i do lament not creating here as much as irl has taken priority, which i don't regret i'm 5000x happier, but i think it was pushing me away anyway since the 7.0 updates and more complex posing. i mean i Could learn more if i had time, which i don't, so everything just happened at once.

me who has played bdo for 10 years: anyways the way the antagonist is a victim of trauma who perpetuates said trauma into despair but failed to recognize that trauma doesn’t have to pull you under, you can live with it and begin to heal from it. friend who just started: i have to kill How Many imps

getting new people into bdo knowing the story is built on deconstructing lies and having to be like “yeah kind looking people will be shitty and the npc you should trust the most is actually the one who acts least trustworthy and npcs tell you to not trust.” and they don’t believe me til it happens

aetherhis by design in her canon is capable of hopping dimensions so /technically/ any instance of her going to modern times or in other games is still canon compliant, hilariously. i’d do it regardless but the way the lore goes “yup sure can” is an extra funny addition 😭
