Ngl, I also don’t like the way they refer to red flags as “ick” when they’re applying this idea of an “ethical” standard. This is more than just yucking people’s yum, this is fully inviting moral judgment of people’s taste in fiction.

And then the part that should stop everyone cold. On Saturday FDA reported that a sample of shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico had tested positive
for Cyclospora - collected at the border during targeted import surveillance, as a result of this very investigation. Taylor Farms confirmed the positive product is not part of its current recall. The lot is detained, and the company is still working out whether any of it reached commerce or people's kitchens. Read that twice. The parasite turned up on product still being shipped into this country, outside a recall the company itself drew, after that same company told the public this traced to one independent farm and represented under one percent of the U.S. iceberg supply. Either the recall is scoped too narrowly or the contamination is broader than one farm. Credit where it's due for finding it - now tell us where the rest of that lot went.

Visited the Amy Sherald exhibit at the Whitney Museum in NYC. She is a Black woman artist who painted official First Lady portrait of Michelle Obama. This exhibit was supposed to open at Smithsonian— but she canceled it because Smithsonian wanted to censor her portraits of trans women

“For Love, and for Country” (2022) by Amy Sherald. The painting is a reinterpretation of ge iconic V-J Day photo taken in Times Square, which showed a white man and woman kissing. In this reinterpretation, a Black gay male couple recreates the embrace and kiss

make it so your kid doesn't have to "come out" to you by not assuming they are straight/cis to begin with. and that takes a lot more effort than just saying you'd still love them or whatever. you have to examine your language and assumptions and inherent biases. kids pick up on things!
