Tiles UI like that of windows 8.x start screen is probably the best UI for tablet homescreens because they use the large screen real estate very well. The icons on modern android and iPadOS tablets look tiny compared to the size of the screen

So, until I get a pixel to install grapheneOS with sandboxed gms, I have come to a compromise On my redmi with an AOSP ROM, I'm only using google services like play store and apps dependent on it in the private space. Outside the space, I'm using tuta, proton and other privacy respecting apps only
