Merchant of Venus is an all time favourite of mine. Quirky space themed pick up and deliver game. Played 2 player, Humans (beige) and Qossuth (orange, played by me). The humans did not have a very good game.

Revisited Age of Steam - New England with a different player. Finished the game this time. 190 to 153. Last couple rounds really favored me. Turn 6 I was sure I was going to lose but all the crossing back and forth in my network saved me.

Another old-school crayon rail night. We played 4 player Iron Dragon and didn't get that far through the game mostly due to the delicious rum punch that was on offer. The two new players that joined the game will probably not be requesting another play. 😟 Crayon Rails isn't for everyone I guess.

Two new games to me. Steam Power, a medium weight game of network building and contract fulfillment and AuZtrailia, not really a train game but enough train mechanics for it to qualify imo. Rail building, mining, combat. Both games very fun. Thanks Les and @laurieacheung.bsky.social for teaching!

Age of Steam - New England Had the opportunity to reintroduce a player to AoS who had a bad experience. We used the first few turns to discuss the thinking behind the decisions. The night went slowly and we only got to turn 4 of 8 but by the end my opponent was looking forward to the next game.

A couple of shots from our play of Railways of the Lost Atlas. We made a few mistakes but still had fun. Due to time constraints we ended after cycle 4 instead of 6. Successfully continuing my only train games phase!

Another new map played for Age of Steam Deluxe. This time it was Hungary. A really interactive map because of a special rule that forces you to traverse at least one link of an opponents network during move goods. Made for a very interesting game. I tied for last place 😟.

Awesome show last night! PRESIDENT, Beartooth, and Bad Omens at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. All three bands were amazing and the Bad Omens light and pyrotechnic show was wild.

Catching up on some posts from our vacation. Dinner in Uptown Saint John at Cask and Kettle. Meal, drinks, and server were all excellent. Concluded with an older gentleman tripping and crashing into our table (fortunately he was unhurt), sending my second pint and a glass of water into my lap! 🥶

Was walking on the Toronto Islands today and went past this. Thought of your game. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
A stone lighthouse with a red wooden door.THE LAKE LIGHT
This lighthouse. one of the earliest on the Great Lakes. was completed in 1808 as an hexagonal tower 52 feet high. topped by a wooden cage with a fixed whale-oil lantern.
In 1832 it was raised to 82 feet and later equipped with a revolving light. The mysterious disappearance of its first keeper, J.P. Rademuller, in 1815 and the subsequent discovery nearby of part of a human skeleton enhanced its reputation as a haunted building.

Age of Steam: Scotland First play. There was some confusion about how to set it up but we used the rule of common sense and it seemed to work well. Definitely my favourite 2 player map so far. The entire game was tight but especially the first few turns there was a real possibility of bankruptcy.

Where to next? Revisiting Megaman 2. Finished this one when I was a kid and remember loving it. So far it’s great. I love how the various challenges in each level can by passed easily by having the tool unlocked by another level. Woodman was impossible for me before Metalman.

Continuing my exploration of Railways of the Lost Atlas, four of us played a variable set up short game on TTS. The implementation is really slick. Interacting with the game elements takes some getting used to though. It's an amazing tool for when you can't be at the same table.

Struggled through the two player micro game of Railways of the Lost Atlas. I have almost no experience with the 18XX so I can't speak to how much of a deviation this is from that system. I can say that even at the micro level there is a lot going on in this game. Time for another play.
