playing the game like AC2, where you farm side enemies before ending the mission at will, is a soft failstate that will cap your rank at the lowest possible score and that is both really funny and a sign that they knew AC2 sucked ass on that front lol

also holy shit ace combat 3's solution to ac2 missions sucking ass is blunt-force but also extremely effective lol: there is a par time for each level, and if you destroy the targets before that par time they spawn a wave of reinforcements. then and only then can you blow people up for points

the new games are not beholden to 30 year old lore particulars at all esp when it's a subjective pov, but i do think it's interesting that rei hirose and the leader of upeo both worked at gencom in 2030 in these wiki entries. feels like something you could work into ac8 dlc.... just saiyan......

i guess it's not an actually fundamental issue if they like, halved the timer, but if doing stuff was *too* tight it'd not be fun either, cuz the map/encounter design is way too basic to allow for routing my paths through each level to be interesting so it'd still require reworking the whole game
